Is Sony trying to steal Microsofts light?
-
Apr 29, 2005 17:07
I just noticed while reading about the xbox 360 being unvelied on the 13th of may, then in another topic, Sony are realseing the ps2 silver on the same date! just out of the blue, it sure had nothing to do with that 360 unveiling date, oh no [cough*]. I think sony knew this was going to happen as Argos had the knowledge of the system for a while, this means that sony was holding the machine untill something like this came up. Altough i dont think the new colour will beat a new console!. Clever though.

Not especially connected. What is a much better example of your theory is that Sony' s Pre-E3 conference - where they will almost certainly unveil PS3 this year - has moved from its usual Tuesday position to " Microsoft Monday" -- a few hours before Microsoft' s conference. Not that any of the timing aspect really matters though tbh.

Penny Arcade had a comic about what Adam is talking about. I would find the link but alas, I am too lazy.

yes, i would have used that example adam if i knew about it as it is better. But in the grand perspective of things, does it really matter? all the consoles will be unvieled at e3 anyway, and even if sony + microsoft show theres before, all the more for Nintendo! as they get the most media attiation beside those ' old' consoles!. That is if Sony do a Microsoft. Its all about generating hype now, and sometimes that can be a bad thing.

With the XBOX being more powerful than the PS2, why would anyone care if about an announcement concerning the silver PS2 would be an issue with the even more powerful XBOX 360 news looming. There' s absolutely no way you, or anyone else, can convince me that PS2 even competes with XBOX 360 specs. With the XBOX 360 specs being off the current scales, why would anyone want to bother with a lower-powered console...even if it is a silver PS2! The games library? Maybe...but only until the next-gen libraries are solid. Otherwise...no good reason. Get yourself some of that plastic/vinyl paint and make yours silver for only the cost of the paint (rather than buying a new console with the only difference being the color).
