The Halo universe...when the construction of those halo-rings were taking place...
From what I understand of the story(from the games only), the Flood were quite rampant at that time!

I' d go with Hyrule from the Legend of Zelda series. It' s got that fantasy feel to it, and there' s so much to explore.
