Sega sure has taken a dark turn, eh? - Feb 10, 2005 20:41
Just take a look at some of their upcoming releases.

Port of House of the Dead III to PC

Altered Beast looks extremely dark and violent
http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=84

Then there’s Blood Will Tell, a game where you have to rescue your own freakin’ limbs!
http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=162

They’re publishing the next Tenchu game, which isn’t technically in the “survivor horror” genre, but most people who’ve played it agree they just survived a horror.

And just recently they announced they’re publishing another morbid game called Condemned

I realize Sega has had some pretty dark toned games in the past, but Zombie Revenge hardly seems close to the mature themes present in the games above.

Luckily Sega isn’t developing/publishing only mature games, they still have a couple cool gems in the pipeline.

Shining Force Neo looks like it’s going to be an AMAZING hack and slash.
http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1443 <= wonder how accurate that release date is. . .

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe is finally coming to the X-Box/PS2

Iron Phoenix looks stellar (damn I gotta go play that demo)

Plus Shining Tears looks like it could be another fun title.

Actually, it looks like Shining Force Neo and Shining Tears are supposed to come out this month! Unless the Feb release date for SFN is for Japan only, because SFN isn’t on Sega’s American site yet.

Well, I started this topic just to talk about Sega’s mature games, and now it seems it took it’s own little separate life.

Hope you guys enjoy the Sega news anyway. :)

The only other difference is that out of all the other games mentioned, Zombie Revenge is the only one that sucked, lol ;)

Oh I HATED that friggin game. Shows how much of a Sega fanboy I am, I played it in the arcades way before it ever came to the Dreamcast, I knew then that I didn' t like the game and I STILL bought the import version for the Dreamcast at full price, LOL..

I thought Dynamite Deka 2 (Dynamite Cop) was WAYYYY better :)

What I liked about Dynamite Cop was that it was really short and fast paced. The whole thing was over before you even knew it which made for a painless experience. The game was humorous in some spots as well. The moves were easy to pull off, some of them were even cool. The only downside, The President' s daughter was one of the ugliest game characters ever! There were times I purposely didn' t even bother beating the final boss just so I wouldn' t rescue her a$$! A NICE looking President' s daughter is Ashley Graham from Resident Evil 4 ;)

To me Zombie Revenge was the complete opposite in every area. It was longer and a little slower paced. The game however looked gorgeous in the arcade cabinets that used the proper NAOMI monitors for extremely sharp and shiny visuals. Other monitors made the game look Ugh! My main problem with the game has always been the perspective used which kinda made it hard to always nail targets properly (kinda like Neo Contra) - As a result I also wasn' t a fan of the controls, or the limited moves of the characters. lol..

I really can' t get myself excited about these games. Sega have always to me been about arcade games and Sonic. Unfortunately arcady games no longer seem to sell well on home consoles and the least said about the recent Sonic titles the better. I can see why they' re developing these darker more mature titles because it' s what sells but I just can' t help but be dissapointed. At least I' ve got Outrun 2 :D
