Sony is the king of overhyped specs. Remember the PS2? They were saying that the government wanted to use it to save the world or something ridiculous like that. Serious! Also, look at what Sony says about the PS2 on paper and then look at the PS2 games themselves. There is a world of difference between what Sony says the PS2 can do and what has actually achieved technically. Moral of the post: Wait until you see it in action as well as the other two systems.

Speaking of overblown, overhyped specs, I always found it funny how Sony (77 Million Polygons) and Microsoft (133??) blew their specs way out of proportions whereas Nintendo was quite conservative with the GameCube and then Factor 5 just blew past Nintendo' s posted limits with their first Gamecube Star Wars game, lol..

I heard the cell would only run at around 4Ghz. Hmm... there' s already conflicting reports. Time to do some digging.

I remember the " Emotion Engine" , and the old man with the very detailed face. Let' s hope they actually make something that' s not so hard to use. It' s sad to see some developers just do some crazy shit with the PS2, and so many others who fail to tap into it' s power.

Apparently the new CELL chip will require software companies to write new programs from scratch. A bit like the PS2. If MS or Nintendo have any common sense they should make their hardware piss easy to develop for.

It' s sad to see some developers just do some crazy *** with the PS2, and so many others who fail to tap into it' s power. Ahhhh the good ol' emotion engine. I watched that tech demo of the old dude so many times! Regarding Terry' s comments on the overblown specs, I remember Sony saying one of the main issues they were going to have with the PS2 coming into North America was that since it was going to be considered a " super computer" they' d need special security permissions. Nothing like starting the hype machine early.

Not even the CELL chip can be called a super computer / processor. Depite its incredible power, according to this article, CELL is still " significantly less powerful than the slowest machine on the list of the world’s top 500 supercomputers" .

Yeah, I read that as well, yet interestingly enough Sony has once again reffered to their new processor as a " super computer in a box" . Somebody should teach them how to downplay their hype.
