EA' s Preview Of The Future... - Dec 05, 2004 14:09
EA thinks it knows how good next gen games are going to look and have recently released two ' preview' images. To be hones the first doesn' t look that ambitious especially compared to GT4.

Meanwhile, the second has me pulling my jaw off the floor.

" Imagine that the characters in a football [game] will be capable of showing real emotion," said Jensen. " That' s what' s going to be possible with the next generation of technology."

It looks like a top of the range cut scene for sure. While not ' photo realistic' it’s getting damn close. Pixar quality gaming looks just around the corner.

What do you think?

They look pretty impressive, but I so wanna see real-time graphics. There have been a few trailers out there tho and they look amazing.

That would be nice if companies took the time to apply realistic motion blur to games as seen in that football pic instead of the incredibly fake and poor motion blur seen in games like SRS and the Need fo' Speed when you use the turbo.

I doubt that games will be able to display " real emotion" . Look at Polar Exress, da movie. It looks absolutely horrid and they spent $180 million making that turd complete with motion capture and everything. It still looks fake and the characters all look like zombies. That may be what games come close to looking like.

lol...wow the hype begins.

Remember when PS2 was capable of showing real emotion? I have high hopes for the capabilities of the next gen systems, but I' ll certainly wait until there is a game in development before guessing how games will look.

I can' t imagine that they could put that much detail into every game(speaking specifically about the football pic) Can you imagine how much programming and artist time that would take?

The PS2 did show emotion. It cried because it couldn' t do the Toy Story graphics that Sony bragged about in the beginning and it also cried because gamers couldn' t " Jack into it" Matrix-style the way Ken Kutaragi claimed that they would.

My PS2 shows real emotion... laziness! It takes forever to load.
