With that kind of time frame I guess it's just a stress test for the servers...? Can't change much in a matter of weeks.

I don't pretend to know anything about how this sort of thing works, but wouldn't they be able to correct bugs, and patch the game with beta fixes the first time you sign into Live with it?

This would be much more a test for serverside stuff. They probalby won't make any changes to the actual game, and if they did it would probably come as a very small download patch. It is also a big marketing thing.

November 11th is probably not the most judicious launch date for a war game in Europe.

I can't decide if that's sorta classy, or kind of disrespectful.

I can't decide if that's sorta classy, or kind of disrespectful. It doesn't matter, no one who served in WWII knows what COD5 is. Shit, most of them aren't even alive, so it becomes a moot point. You can't disrespect the dead.

And whats starting to ruin CoD4? The maps, and lack of new playlists. One of these will be fixed soon, and the other isn't looking good. Small sacrifices made from switching over to a 2-year 2-developer business model I suppose.

Hey soon enough we get to play 4 player co op killing japs with flame throwers and katanas, whats not to love? Whats killing COD4 is that its been out for awhile and its start to get stagnant, I'll prolly play it until the beta comes out though.

I'd love to see some new maps for CoD4, but they probably won't as it would rain on World at Wars launch. Everyone's going on about playing the Pacific War in the new game will be different, but I wonder how the Russian campaign will look as that is more traditional CoD fare. Supposedly in the October issue of Gamepro mag there is a lot of info on perks and stuff for multiplayer. Trying to find a reference and will post.

Whats not to love? A shitty dev, shitty WWII weapons, etc. Well it looks alright so far and just because one game they made was bad doesn't mean they all will be bad. Also some of us like the WWII weapons, so yeah. ;)

I was talking about 3, but yes, they're using the CoD4 Engine. I don't think they're using the same framework for multiplayer, just similar elements.

Actually Eddie according to a podcast between Major Nelson and some dude at treyarc they are using the multiplayer system from COD4 because they "just love it so much", or maybe it worked and they are lazy. ;D However this game turns out it should atleast be fun to mess about in co-op and make fun of how bad it is, plus it has flame throwers :D

The WWII setting is overdone, Treyarch is a mediocre dev on their best day. Need any more reasons to not buy this game?
