It has an interesting style, but from a technical standpoint, it's about as bland as it gets. UEIII I'm betting?

From Software has made some good, stylish and difficult games in the past. They've also had a few missteps here and there, but I give them the benefit of the doubt.

The costume looks like a a Hayabusa rip-off. Except... not as cool. Holds the sword the same way too.

I really don't think ninja were built like professional wrestlers, a la this character and Hayabusa. You can be just as strong with a more lithe and flexible body. They're supposed to be stealthy and incredibly swift. This type of character design is aimed at dumb kids (and dumb middle-aged men) who like "ninjas with numchucks."

I seriously doubt NG ever tried to be faithful to the source. But at least it has always been cool. This just doesn't fit into the "cool" concept, specially when the guy has more than a passing resemblance to Hayabusa.
