What kinda media do you think will be used to watch movies in the near future? (dunno if I worded that correctly, but what I mean is after DVDs what will come next? Will it be mini disks, a chip implant, paper?) And what about the distant future? I think DVDs will just get smaller and store more stuff. As for the distant future, I say stuff will be put onto lil chips that can be place in hovering screens or somin...i dont even know what that means.

I' m hoping it' s something DVD like and the players will be capable of backwards compatibility.

The future is already here... iPods store music on chip sets...I believe that this technology will only get better, and this will be our future. The XBOX and PC' s do this too... One last note: There is a technology that uses colored lasers to cut into crystals and these crystals store an unimaginable amount of information. However, I do not currently know the status of this medium' s development for the consumer market.
Videogaming is the contemporary interactive pasttime.

Can' t forget Sony' s Blu-Ray disc technology. That holds WAYYYY more than DVDs. Whether it becomes a standard is another story. I personally wish they' d advance the Mini-Disc technology to store movies on...

If Blu-ray DVD' s become the main source of movies and games then every company will have to upgrade there hardware because old hardware wont read blu-ray DVD' s.It also meens everyone will have to rebuy DVD players that read Blu-Ray. I dont think its worth the 50 gigs it will stor on duel layer. If its true that sony is working on 100 gig blu-ray then its worth it.The HD-DVD stores 15 gigs single layer and 30 gig duel layer. But old hardware reads them.
