400 GB optical disc from Pioneer ..
-
Jul 08, 2008 21:34
Pioneer is going to bring out 400 GB optical discs which could be compatible with the Blu ray discs . This could be prefect for M$ for the next gen . More space + It would play blu rays so you are not leaving movie goers in the ditch and they would probably not have to pay Sony anything ( I am guessing ) .. CNET

2000-3000p screens in the next ten years, and higher-fidelity audio. You' d fill ' em. Of course, people said the same thing with HDDVD and Blu-Ray.

Does it make me old for thinking maybe, just maybe, its not really necessarry to have 10000000p tvs?

I would say for the current size of TVs, and how far people sit away from them, 8X 1080p would pretty much max out the detail anyone could see. They could still up the frames per second and TVs don' t display all of the colors we see yet.

I find the diffance between 720p and 1080p to be small. Anything after that is going isnt going to be very noticeable at all. I think they need to go away from res and focus on things like black levels and colours and shit. Also I notice whenever i watch somehd its so crisp it hurts my eyes, I cant watch it for too long its a pain in the ass.
Change is inevitable. Except from a vending machine. Viva La Revolution! erm, I mean Viva La Wii!

Holy shit! When will we ever need 400 GB for discs? Thats like a never ending movie. Who says it is for video? Although it is Blu-ray technology, I doubt we' ll see movies on this 400GB version of it for a long time. Mostly it will be used for data storage and the such. Just imagine, almost a fifth of your porn could fit on a single 400GB disc!!!

Black levels and colors don' t have anything to do with the storage, all that information is there, it is just the displays. It hurts my eyes to watch blurry SD.

I was talking about tv tech. I have no problem from going hd to sd, the differance isnt as big as big as some make it out to be.
