Official Halo 2 Soundtrack Information...You May Just Be Surprised!

Halo 2 Soundtrack - More than Marty? Now THIS is bizarre. Sumthing Distribution, the folks who distributed the Special Edition Halo Soundtrack, have a new banner at the top of their main page. (I' ve linked to a local copy in case it goes away.) According to the banner, the Official Halo 2 Soundtrack will feature original music by Nile Rodgers, Incubus, Hoobastank, Breaking Benjamin, and more... The discussion in the forum currently revolves around whether this is legitimate or not - but we got mail a couple of weeks ago from wmaltby pointing to a web page with this comment in the news: " Rumor has it that Breaking Benjamin will be very involved with Halo 2... more details to come!" We held off posting that because it had no corroboration at the time... but it' s starting to look more plausible. Details if and when we get them. (Louis Wu 13:47:06 UTC) (permalink)

heres what Marty had to say: The most important thing is that there is NO music in the game that I didn’t want in the game. I knew that I had to focus on making music for the game and not for a soundtrack. That’s where Nile came in. He really is quite a talented guy and knows a lot of people. I’ve worked with many great guitar players, but when Nile called me and said that I could work with his buddy Steve Vai (my generation again), I just about lost it. The temptation to succumb to the siren call of Hollywood and the marketing hype machine is hard to resist. Bungie tried hard to stay Bungie throughout the production of Halo2. Our goal is to make the coolest game for the best fans. It turns out that some of our fans are already part of the big hype machine and ended up being pretty cool too. I hope we don’t let you folks down, and I don’t think we “sold outâ€. Entire Forum Post here

As long as the licenced music isn' t everywhere in the game it should be ok.
