PS3 update = In Game XMB

I have seen a lot of people going apeshit over the upcoming 2.40 PS3 firmware update which will add " In-Game XMB" . For those who don' t know, the XMB is just the PS3' s little thingy that you get when you turn it on which allows you to send a note to another user and the such.

My question is this: Why is everyone spooging gallons upon gallons of their load over the thought of in game XMB? Why is this important? I can see very little benefit except not having to quit a game to read a message some asshole sends you. To hell with them, I' m not interrupting my game to read their nonsense, ingame XMB or not. Anyway, I thought this feature already existed. I am able to have ingame XMB in Hot Shots Golf. I never used it, but I noticed it was there and fully functional.

I' m guessing its just Sony' s way of closing the feature gap on Xbox Live. No big deal for any live players, but a convenience for PSN users.

Its just Sony adding features which they previously felt where ' gimmicky' on the 360 ...

I wanted to use the XMB a couple of times when i was in a game. Like when i go online and want to pause a download or something. Not a major need though.

I was thinking about that and thought the system will just read your achievements (no pun intended) and award you the trophies like DMC4 did when i didnt log to a network at first but when i did i got many awards at once.

Also it seems that not all games will support the trophy feature.

The 2.40 firmware is bringing in-game XMB and trophies. The first games getting trophy support include BUZZ! Quiz TV, LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, NBA 09, PAIN, PixelJunk Eden, Resistance 2, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation and Warhawk. Some of those games (like PAIN and Warhawk) require a game update for trophies.
