New NFS announced
-
Jun 19, 2008 20:33
A new NFS has been confirmed by John Riccitello. It' s called Need for Speed: Undercover... Sounds like you are a cop or something. The next Need for Speed game from EA will be titled Need for Speed Undercover, EA boss man John Riccitello has confirmed. Little-to-no gameplay details were revealed when we contact EA, but Riccitello did reveal during a recent speech that the game would feature a " very strong mission structure" , and an embedded storyline, according to various reports. Riccitello also admitted that the previous game, Pro Street, wasn' t quite up to scratch (as this review will tell you), but to make sure that doesn' t happen again, he went on to reveal that the series has been shifted over to a two-year development cycle, which has two separate teams working to release games biannually. Just as Pro Street tried to take the series in a new direction, Undercover is expected to try new things with the franchise too, but our EA contact declined to reveal any further info, other than that more details will be revealed soon. Obviously. No platforms were specified, so we' ll assume it' ll be on everything. Absolutely everything. Source

<3 2 year development cycles. There are so few developers that can make a passable title in under a year, and even less can really make the title shine. ...But then again, it' s all academic, as it' s Need for Speed.

ORIGINAL: Eddie_the_Hated <3 2 year development cycles. There are so few developers that can make a passable title in under a year, and even less can really make the title shine. Which is why i didn' t criticize CoD3 as heavily as everybody else. It was sacrificed to jump into the studio alternating 2 year development cycles for 4 and 5 etc... Carbon and ProStreet were f ucking awful, but Most Wanted was godly. Undercover (shitty name i know) will be great, just like the new (unannounced) Driver game in development at Ubisoft Reflections.

I hope it' s similar to MW. I hated Prostreet, and Carbon just wasn' t long enough.

Meh, you all can keep MW, honestly it put me away from the NFS series after the awesomeness of the Underground games. Let' s not even discuss Carbon. Can' t talk about ProStreet, didn' t bother to try it. Here' s to hoping this one puts the series back into shape.
