The Conduit

Guess by now everyone has at least read something about it or seen the tech demo of the engine that high voltage build for their games on Wii. They released the first trailer for The Conduit and I must say... I' m pleasantly surprised, it' s looking really nice. By far the best graphics seen on the Wii and I think they' re really good actually. [link=Trailer]http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/14248157/the-conduit/videos/conduit_trailer_051608.aspx[/link] Now this clearly shows how lazy the big developers have been. These, well compared to others, are little guys. And what they are getting out of the Wii is putting all the others to shame. This is how the games should have looked on Wii from the start. And before any start about this or that area looked rather crappy. This is still early in development. Sure it' s not 360 or ps3 quality. But at least it does show the Wii is capable of so much more. Also keep in mind all of this so far has been self funded. They don' t have a publisher yet. It' s also still early in it' s dev cycle so we' ll most likely see a few more boosts in the graphical area before it is released. I don' t even really like fps but I' m buying this game no matter what just to support these guys and if it sells well it might be a wake up call for others and make them realise just how lazy they' ve been.

Are you smoking crack? The low-res video looks good enough but you can' t see what the game actually looks like and the screens are fuc.k awful...

I confused those screens for a high-res Star Trek: Elite Force.

We better accept the fact that nothing coming out on the Wii will ' look' very good .. There will be a few exceptions here and there like Galaxy but most of the titles will look like ass compared to what we will be seeing on the other consoles ...

It has potential... to be another generic shooter, graphics or not.

Thats looks good in motion. Has better animation and framerate than alot of 360/ps3 shooters ive played. Edit: I see.. they are going for 60fps. Cool.

ORIGINAL: Virtua fighter 5 Thats looks good in motion. This is the case for many games of course. For example this little one : [image]https://www.kikizo.com/viewer/imageview_games.asp?gta4_rev/12.jpg[/image] Screenshots don' t always do a game justice I think. By the way, isn' t this a " work in progress" ? And it should be compared to Wii-games in my opinion. It seems as if most try to hold it to the same standard as what' s on the other consoles. From what I' ve read, the developer seemed to concentrate a lot on the technology (lighting, particles,...) which can still make a game look bland (as everyone knows) if the artists making the textures etc. aren' t on the same level. It seemed though as if their goal was to try and make technologically more advanced games for Wii at least. Which is something considering how the majority of developers look at it.

The Wii is just forget-able when it comes to most more serious games... The bright colours can make you go blind...

I agree whole headtedly that it shouldn' t be compared to games on 360 and PS3, ...but then, nobody has. In terms of technology it should be compared similar titles on PS2, Gamecube, Xbox and Wii. Escape From Butcher Bay, Doom 3, Black and Killzone on PS2 (in terms of graphics) - this looks like shit.

As far as I' m concerned, graphics aren' t THE most important thing, but with the deluge of FPS out there right now any new IPs looking for a slice of the pie needs to come correct in SOME area. Art direction, story line, multi-player, or unique game-play features, that aren' t gimmicky, are all welcome. We shall see if this game can rise above the mediocrity out there!
