I never heard of it getting cancelled!! It hasn' t been. Not officially at any rate. I' m simply saying that because the movie got binned, Wingnut' s Side project may have been binned entirely, or simply on hiatus. According to press-releases, it is, or was a joint operation between Wingnut and Bungie, and I have my doubts that Bungie' s keen on working on anything to do with Halo, apart from finishing up Halo Wars with Ensemble Studios. The last I heard of the project was over a year ago at GDC, when Kim announced that it' d be episodic, in two series, and only immediately available through XBLM. I find it odd that a game in a franchise as prolific as Halo would slip under the radar for over a year, with no new press developments unless something was up.

And i think Bungie will always have some amount of control over Halo, despite being sick of it, its still their kid if you know what i mean
