With any luck (and it' d depend on licenses) Monolith will return to the franchise after Condemned 2, Project Origin and Silent Hill are done. It' d be criminal if there was no AVP3.

Im also eager to see what Obisidians Aliens RPG will be like, hopefully there wont be anyone rushing them, like KOTOR2 and NWN2 were rushed. Back on track, the screenshots look great, this game has super potentiel, when is it due out? 09?

It would be tre-cool if they included voice-overs and character liknesses of the actors from the movie! VASQUEZ ROCKS! ...and Hudson, Hicks and Apone! So the question becomes, are you playing Ripley? If not, is she in it?

Excuse me while I pick up my jaw from the floor That looks incredible, the environments look like the developers just stole the set of Aliens. I hope they just ditch Ripley entirely, unless it' s set pre-Aliens 4. That sucked. No retard alien-child monstrosities either please. Dog bursters are allowed though

R U kiddin' me! Ripley could kick most of those Marines asses! Ripley was Badass! Definetly, but Ripleys motives for fighting are different than the marines, she wants to run but fights because she has no other options. The marines are in it for the fight.

HELL YEAH! I love the Aliens franchise. The biggest failure in the videogame industry is every month that goes without a game like this.

The guns & hands are simple, but they look really nice. That' s always a plus in an FPS. I never actually got into the whole Aliens thing, but the game looks stellar.

The constant pulsing of the motion tracker... the sound of pulse rifle bursts and alien screeches... the shoulder mounter lamp and dimly lit locales... the atmosphere in AVP2 is nigh unmatched. I think one of the reasons why i loved Doom 3 was because of my love for the AVP games. I remember playing the original in 99 during my first year of college and thinking that it was the best game after Quake II. System Shock 2 came out the same year and i got hooked on that too but AVP just had that edge over other shooters. Then AVP2 came out in 2001 and it was my most played game for a couple of years... the multiplayer in particular was amazing. Gearbox' s take will be really interesting because it appears to be set between the second and third films and will take in the Sulaco and LV-426. The cast from Aliens (save for Ripley) will obviously be dead at this point in the timeline. Since Ripley, Newt, Hicks and Bishop were all ejected in ab escape pod (while in cryonic stasis) after a fire started on the Sulaco... the ship shouldn' t have any human lifeforms on it in this game, nor should we see any of the characters from the movies. I hope it doesn' t play like BiA though... that' d suck.

I loved AVP and AVP2, though when I was playing AVP multiplayer, CS was in its very infancy and it really drew me in, and I played it a lot during its beta. But during the couple months of junior high(middle school to americans), that the local internet/gaming cafe would refuse to install CS I played a ton of AVP at lunch with friends/clsassmates. The alien could tear people apart, and the predator was ready for almost any situation(god I loved using the disc on my friends from across the room), but the marine always lent itself best to tactic and clearing of rooms(incidentally the very similar tactic used in early CS). I never played multiplayer with AVP2, but I did play the single player thoroughly, as well as the expansion. There are only a few games that have ever managed that intense atmosphere that AVP 1 & 2 created. RPG' s can create atmosphere(I loved them dearly), but in my experience, FPS' are the only ones that can both create atmosphere, and pure exhilaration in extended periods.

More details announced: Small details they may be, but when they' re details on Gearbox' s upcoming Aliens squad-shooter, you' d damn well better lap them up. First up, the game won' t be restricted to claustrophobic indoor environments. While they' ll obviously play a big part, there' ll also be outdoor sections as well, giving you a breather from the RELENTLESSLY OPPRESSIVE DARKNESS. It also won' t feature your traditional progression through levels, either. Rather than simply advance from beginning to end, some levels will require you to " make a stand" , asking you to set up turrets and barricade doors in an effort to hold an area from a swarm of incoming bugs. Two more: first is that the game will feature proper acid blood, which won' t just injure you if you get too close, but will also have minor effects on the level' s environments. Second is that the game will feature quick-time events. Sorry to save the bad news for last, but hey, you had to hear it some time.

wtf is QTE? I will use God of War as an example, even if it wasn' t the first to use them, it is the most well known. QTE' s are the events when you press the button/stick movement that is prompted on the screen, with animations following each press. Heavenly sword is probably the only other recent game that uses a lot of QTE' s. As far as AVP having QTE' s, I don' t the idea. I know they want to do it because they will be able to have some cool movie like attack sequences, but I seriously hope it is for aliens only, maybe predators using melee weapons, but not marines. I didn' t like the look of the QTE' s in Jericho(which were not well recieved by reviewers either). As I said, since the alien is all melee attacks, then I could understand it, but god help them if they give the marine QTE' s.

QTEs can be cool, but they can also be a bit cheap if suddenly they begin happening with no prior warning, so you' re cheaply caught off guard and have to re-do them.

In a lot of ways I think that some don' t like QTE' s because it removes you from the game. At least that is how I feel anytime I play a game with them.

I like QTE that end in death, but you can immediately do over, because then you can watch your character die horribly multiple times and then when you' re ready, continue on (a' la Tomb Raider: Legend).

This is a time when i really wish i had a scanner as Game Informer covered this extensively in their last issue. They claim the the QTE' s will be " subtle" and won' t have giant symbols on the screen for prompts. Now for some cool stuff, it will have a 4-player online co-op and they say that you will need to be tactical and each member of the 4 man squad will have special abilities and different weapons. Now some more bad news, there will be multiple characters that will die(they have said how this will work in co-op), in single player they will make you switch between each character and you will have no choice which one you get that mission(it will be pre-selected). Also I think Dagashi got confused, this will not be an AVP game it is Aliens:Colonial Marines and will be based on the events in the Aliens movie(not any other ones) and is going to be after Ripley has left, they go back to the planet or something. All in all I am hopeful for this game and can' t wait to get more news on it.

This seems to be the new flavour of the month now. Since Bungie included this feature in with Halo 3 and it was so well received, we are seeing more and more games include it, which is awesome. There is nothing better than getting online with 3 of your friends for some 4 player co-op. Good find Torr, and BTW sorry for not accepting invites for COD4. I have had a few days off of work, and so have been devoting that time to Lost Odyssey. Just started the second disc.
