World Ends in 5 Years!

At least according to the Mayans. That gives me just enough time to build a reinforced bunker, develop a hybrid lichen that requires no sunlight or water(for food) and buy enough bullets to kill God! I' m gonna live forever or die trying! How about you?

I don' t think the Mayans could have concieved what the ' world' would be like in 2012 so for all anybody knows it could just mean a meteor takes out Mexico... or even, fingers crossed, the whole of the United States... What did Nostradamus say about it?

Most prophets point to 2012 as the end of the world from all around the world at different times in history. Nostradamus doesn' t give a specific date I don' t think but the world events taking place up to his description of the end seem to fit. Edgar Cayce points out December 21, 2012 as the end of the world (his prophecies intrigue me the most) along with the Mayans. There are several other prophets that have said the same. I' ve watched several documentaries on the subject thanks to the History Channel. Interesting stuff.

the whole of the United States... that means we die too if it can take out America... oh well, the end of the world was so 2000, those Mayans are stuck in the past man.

Though I for one don' t believe in this stuff, it is interesting to see how they all aim at one year in particular. Intriguing If it did come to it, then that would suck. I sure as hell don' t wanna live forever, but 2012? I' ll be fricking 27, I probably wouldn' t have done all the shit I wanna do before I kick the bucket!

The hippie global warming tree huggers have said that all of the ice in the arctic will be melted in the summer... of 2012. It will still freeze in the winter, though.

ORIGINAL: ginjirou Maybe the stars will be in some special constelation at that time, which led to several people drawing the same conclusion? I' m really not sure. The even strangest thing is how most of the prophets explain the end in a very similar fashion. They say a pole shift (magnetic north will tilt) will occur causing the planet to basically tear itself apart. Science backs up the pole shift theory and scientists are saying we will experience a pole shift on earth around that time. The scientists say it' s a fairly common thing though that happens somewhat regularly from what I' ve read. The thing is, if the pols shift fast enough (even in a matter of days) the planet will have to realign itself with the new magnetic north. This will cause a huge shift in the mass of the planet. That much mass being twisted so rapidly could cause the weaker fault lines, if not all the fault lines, to split open. Obviously this would cause global wide earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Then you get to take into account the moons gravitational pull which will now be offset. That will completely mess with the tides, massive flooding will take place and island regions could be completely wiped out. The fun thing is, all those prophets from so long ago basically described that scenario without knowing what magnetic forces were. It kinda makes you think. Meh, if the world does end I get out of paying my college loans, yay!

Hmmmm, that means I can start my killing spree about mid-2011... Ike Turner died today. If you have a wife or girlfriend, slap her a couple of times to honor his memory.

Let' s see, Michigan has no fault lines, volcanoes, no islands to speak of, I think I' m going to be just fine!

Yeah except the gravitational pull of the moon and shifting mass of the planet will cause the Great Lakes to flow South flooding everything below them. May want to rethink that.

The world will never end. At most it may become inhospitable for us , but some other creature will flourish eventually.

The world will never end. At most it may become inhospitable for us , but some other creature will flourish eventually. I seriously doubt that we won' t find a way to survive. That' s what defines us as a species. If we didn' t have our ability to reason and innovate, we' d be nothing more than walking lumps of wolf chow. And besides, the authorities I' ve heard on this particular occurance only report a time of great revolution. Who knows, maybe we' re nearing our technological singularity as a species. Yeah except the gravitational pull of the moon and shifting mass of the planet will cause the Great Lakes to flow South flooding everything below them. May want to rethink that. Whoops, didn' t think about that. Ummm... I' ll wear a life jacket? All the time? For the rest of my life?

In the beginning the universe was created, this was viewed as a bad move and generally frowned apon.

When the sun goes supernova the gamma ray burst will take out most, if not all of the planets o-zone layer. The UV radiation would kill most lifeforms but creatures living underground and in deep seas would probably survive. The biggest current threats to the planet are meteors.

I' m of the belief that the biggest threat to humanity will always be ourselves. If we have the ability to wipe out entire cities in 10 seconds flat, and poison the surrounding areas for decades, if not centuries with 70 year old technology, imagine where we' ll be in 2100. f u c k e d
