Not sure how many folks here are right into their metal - a few from my favourite thread anyway I' m writing for a metal webzine, doing CD reviews and gig reviews if I can get passes for any. If I' m going off my own back I' m drinking :) www.metalteamuk.net Idle hands spend time at the genitals after all.

i like metal, thhough not exclusively, what sub genre would you say you prefer? Iv been a Iron Maiden fan for years, though not as much in the recent years. This is danish band called Volbeat, i really like their style. http://youtube.com/watch?v=eclMypNggQQ this specific tune is with another danish band, called Magtens Korridorer (they played at the scandinavian Halo release party )

I like a lot of different stuff VX, it helps with the reviews :) My faves are industrial NIN/Ministry/Red Harvest/Godflesh etc Black Metal - Emperor, Anaal Nathrakh, Aborym, Cradle of Filth Stoner/Southern/Doom - Down, Clutch, Sunn O)))) and " post hardcore" (I hate the genre name) Isis, Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Swans etc I like a lot of the " straight forward" metal bands like Maiden (going to see them headline Wacken next year), Judas Priest, Pantera, Slayer, Tool, Mastadon etc

I like certain industrial stuff, but I wouldn' t actively listen to it. It works as background/working/gaming music though.

ORIGINAL: Eddie_the_Hated I like certain industrial stuff, but I wouldn' t actively listen to it. It works as background/working/gaming music though. A lot of the metal industrial stuff and bands like Frontline Assemblly are excellent for gaming (not to forget NIN and Quake of course). There are a lot of more intellectually demanding industrial bands out there though (and yes, they are all stuck up their own arse, but that can be good sometimes!) Coil, Autechre, Pan Sonic, Einsturzende Neubauten are some I would recommend. You should check EN on youtube Eddie, most of their instruments are extreme " Mod" jobs! The new Pan Sonic is excellent by the way. VX, hope you enjoy the Manson show. I was going to see him on Saturday but the venue he played here sounds rubbish so I didn' t bother.
