Jeff Gurstmann fired from gamespot!

Even if you break 2 legs from a crab it still runs! What you gotta do is find its weak spot and do massive damage at it.

Wow.. That sucks. I thought GameSpot learned their lesson over the Shenmue ' 6.8' debacle and weren' t going to bow to pressure anymore? I can only hope the rumors are false cause I can' t wrap my mind around them firing their long-time senior editor over one game and a game that isn' t even among the elite AA/AAA status.

He' s definitely gone, as has Tim Tracy - who had worked at Gamespot before moving the CNET owned MP3.com. Gamespot is also owned by CNET and the two are know to be friends. Gerstmann' s video review has been taken down and Shacknews has apparently confirmed that he was indeed fired. Perhaps he' ll end up at EA like Kasavin

If this is true, Gamespot=Fail. Forever. Seriously. Anyone else think Gamespot should be avoided like a plague if this turns out to be true?

I dont see how Eidos can complain, its their own fault for releasing a sub par game.

I hope Kikizo doesn' t bow under the same type of advertiser pressure. Anyway, isn' t this the guy who gave a recent Zelda game a ridiculous score of 8.8???? Yes, I can' t believe that score, either. Way too high.

Zelda should score under 9 for the pure laziness of not including voice acting!

So Gerstmann called the characters " impossible to like" ? What' s untrue about that? You can play a paranoid schizophrenic who murdered his own wife, and a guy who skipped the country after his wife blamed him for the accidental shooting death of their 2-year-old son. Sounds like an accurate assessment of sh*tty, unappealing characters in a mediocre " dark and gritty" lookalike FPS.

In the end, Jeff got fire for being honest. What' s even more dirty, is that gamespot didn' t stand up for their employee. He was doing his job.

One more reason to dislike mainstream gaming review sites.

ORIGINAL: Eddie_the_Hated One more reason to dislike mainstream gaming review sites. This is why i don' t like game reviews. I mean, not everybody would stand their ground and face being fired - most would bend to the will of their employers. IGN, Gamespot, 1up... they' re all corrupt.

Eidos probably threatened to sue lots for damage to business if he wasnt fired. And as we' ve proved you can sue for anything these days and win. If they thought Eidos had better lawyers, Gerstmann would likely have decided to bow out to save Gamespot a lot of money! I dont think Gamespot would' ve turned round and stab their long-term colleague like that unless they' d been backed into a corner. Not that I' ve ever read a gamespot review. Seriously. Eidos do seem to be advertising K&L a lot on TV over here. Still haven' t bought it even though its only 18 quid. Will probably get it second hand for a tenner in a couple months.

They likely just threatened to pull advertising. When sites like Gamespot see the potential for lost $$$, they cave in like weaklings.

He was a shitty reviewer, constantly giving crappy games high scores and good games low scores, should have been fired years ago.

At least we know Kikizo doesnt do this. I dont pay much attention to the ads, but I recall Halo, AOE, and Eternal Sonata ads, all of which got good reviews but nothing astronomical.

I hated Gurstmann, thought his reviews were stupid. But I LOVED to hate him. You need someone to disagree with. It was wrong to fire him.
