Enter Hayate? (A few new Ninja Gaiden 2 details) - Oct 24, 2007 22:04

According to reports, the face-chopping sequel will have you murdering rival ninjas in real-world environments, including settings in Tokyo, Venice and Times Square in New York, although we wouldn' t count on there being passer-by grannies to punch.

The fighting system has been enhanced with improved enemy AI and new moves. Enemies can perform co-operative attacks, while Ryu will get a new Obliteration technique - a series of fatal blows delivered if you hit Y immediately after removing an enemy limb.

A main rival ninja is also said to feature, who series producer Itagaki apparently described as " bad ass" .

On a not-so-positive note, there' s no multiplayer mode planned, according to a preview reported to feature in the December issue of American magazine, EGM. Look out for new screens soon.

One can only wonder who the rival Ninja is. I' m hoping it' s Hayate, because he is
badass. It' d also make for a cool second adventure to play with provided Hayate
got his own animation, moves and wind based Ninpo/techniques. He' d also need to
move much quicker than Hayabusa.

Otherwise it better be a hot kunoichi otherwise I am not bothered.

I' m dreaming right?

It' d be a possibility if she wasn' t getting her own game i guess, but hayate sounds more realistic. Although, ...a rival?

As far as I know Hayate was a rival to Hayabusa until DOA4 where they teamed up to
take down Donovan and DOATEC, but in DOA3 there' s a cutscene where Hayabusa
says:

" Since when have you ever been able to beat me Hayate?"

Then they fight on the roof tops.

Ayane would probably be a good bet too, but she' s more of a servant/messenger
Ninja to Hayabusa. If it' s Hayate, this will make my day.

On another note, the quote says:

On a not-so-positive note, there' s no multiplayer mode planned.

Who was expecting multiplayer, and where is the negativity in the lack of?

Anything has to be better than Rachel!

Saying that, having Hayate in would kinda take some of the the badassness away from Hayabusa wouldn' t it?

EDIT: Heh, if it was VF' s Kage i' d have a heart attack...

Multiplayer would be awful. It just needs another mission mode.

100% Agreed, I borrowed a PS3 just to play Sigma, and everything was fine
except Rachels bits. That was the only time I felt like I could die, and it made
me appreciate the quickness and brutality of Hayabusa. Even though Rachel is
stronger, she comes across as a dumb broad with a huge chest.

After playing DOA4 I kind of took more of a liking to the quick finesse of Hayate
that he' s actually my favourite character in DOA4, and he' s also more ninja like
than Hayabusa. Based on Ninja Gaiden 2' s video/ live demonstrations, I think he
should have the " Ninja" stripped from the title.

Also, the fact that he' ll be flying to real places in Tokyo, New York (Times Square),
Venice, as well as Team Ninja' s thrown in fantasy worlds opens up the avenue
for much more intense gameplay. I hope there' s a part where I am being chased
by the rival ninja.... That' d be cool.
