Whats with the 2 disc BLU-RAY set for Superbad???
-
Oct 11, 2007 16:29
Whys it on 2 disc? It doesnt have any extra features that the 2 disc DVD set includes and it costs more...Does a movie like Superbad really even warrent HD? Add to that its a Sony production, you' d think theyd at least have some inside resources to ensure all the content would fit on a single Blu-Ray disc right? There' s no real point to this thread except to point out the pointlessness of HD when it comes to certain movies. Most bluray players play DVD also dont they?

This movie doesn' t really need more than pan and scan VHS (recorded in EP/SLP) with a mono linear audio track. Granted, I have not seen one frame from this movie or even a promo or a poster. But if I haven' t heard of it, it can' t be that great. ;) Maybe Sony' s Blu-Ray doesn' t hold as much as they said. A movie like Superbad (which I assume is a comedy and therefore quite short) plus all of its extras should easily fit on one Blu-Ray... unless something' s broken somewhere that we don' t know about.

The movie' s fantastic. I saw it about 3 weeks ago now. Absolutely freaking brilliant, especially if you' re in high-school or college. I will say this much. If you' re a high-class comedy prat who can' t laugh at the occasional crude joke, skip it. It' s surprisingly smart for a movie about getting laid & wasted, but even still, there' s some jokes you just can' t make classy (I.E. A compulsive penis drawing disorder).

ORIGINAL: nekkid_monkey That' s a pretty big rock you live under, eh? No, I just don' t watch a lot of TV. There is no way for them to advertise the movie' s existence to me. I would watch more TV, but I don' t for two reasons: #1 - Stuff on TV sucks. #2 - I have something resembling a life, so there isn' t much time for TV. Perhaps emofag can explain why there are two BluRay discs. He probably won' t post in this thread again since he doesn' t have an answer, though. He doesn' t know much.

It' s on 2 discs because they felt like putting it on 2 discs. It' s that simple. You lose.

Or they just wanted to keep them on separate discs? That is like asking why in the music industry double-cd albums with less than 80 minutes of music are released... because they felt like making them double albums, thats why. There is no technical reason behind it. Yes they could fit all the music in one disc, obviously, they just didn' t want to, thats why they didn' t. It doesn' t get any more simple than that.

There' s a bit of truth to what Emo' s saying. I like to look at marketing decisions as things done for the average idiot consumer. The way they' re going to see it, More Disks = More Value = Acceptably Higher Price
