I' d have to say good riddance. FASA had not made anything good at all for many years. I don' t think they could have done the Mechwarrior series justice even if they had stayed on.
I think it' s Microsoft that owns the rights to Mechwarrior anyway. So there' s nothing stopping them from one day passing it to a more able studio. Whether or not they will remains to be seen. All I really wanted was Mechwarrior 5. To be able to sit in the cockpit of a Mad Cat, fire my PPC' s, and watch my foes disintegrate with super realistic graphics...

edit: Actually after a bit of reading I found out that the Mechwarrior/BattleTech franchise is owned by WizKids, a company founded by FASA veteran Jordan Weisman. It does not look like the dissolution of FASA will have any effects on WizKids. The IP is safe but whether they' ll do anything with it is unknown.
