I might pick up one,especially since I can get blu-ray movies for free...

And what about Europe? I seriously hope they' ll have something for us Europeans. And best BEFORE the Heroes HD DVD box gets released.

Now I may be talking out my backside, but I' m sure I read somewhere that HD-DVD was region free. If that' s true (and I' m not convinced it is) why can' t we all pick up one from the US and ship it over, the exchange rate makes that a steal?

Yeah im still holding my breath to see what format comes out on top. Its kinda silly that they released either drives on something that was undecided.

Well, you are acting like HD DVD already lost. And while it' s most likely going to be, I don' t see why roughly 150€ is a waste. HD DVD has got some really interesting exclusive movies (as well as Heroes!) and, as long as most BluRay movies are using MPEG 2 instead of VC-1 it' s definitely better to get the HD DVD version of the movies that are multiformat.

It' s a good deal, but I don' t have much faith left in HD-DVD. Well, heck, I' m not adopting for another 1 or 2 years (short of a blu-ray player in my PS3) so it doesn' t much matter to me.

In the same link I saw a title that mentioned free south park episode in HD....cool.

I' m going to support BluRay so I don' t care how cheap they make the add-on.
