Why has it been capped? more likely to save the battery power and keep a hidden card to them, now they are releasing their full power.

ORIGINAL: ginjirou Why has it been capped? It was found to drain the battery too quickly. They capped it at 266MHz, but uncapped it runs at 333MHz. In comparison, PS2' s run at 299MHz. It might not sound like much but the difference should be very noticeable.

So now I have to buy a better battery if I want to play for more than 15 minutes, or what?

Something like that. But still, if they sort it so the machine only runs at 333MHz for games, the additional battery life when running at 266MHz when watching video or whatever will be nice.

The extended batteries are kinda' nice. They do what they say, but it' s not quite a 50% increase like some of the ads. You' re looking at more like 30%.

Nitro igames were not running at 266mhz, but rather at 222 mhz, only ratchet and clank that puched it to 266mhz, it made a big fuss at the time in the homebrew scene.

I didn' t know that all PSP games were locked at 266Mhz, I thought the developers had the choice if they wanted longer battery life or better performance. WTH did Sony wait so long to do this? EDIT: Oh, Aba cleared that up. It was 222Mhz and 266Mhz. " They capped it at 266MHz, but uncapped it runs at 333MHz. In comparison, PS2' s run at 299MHz." It doesn' t matter, they' re not the same chip. I know, you know this but some here might not know that it' s apples vs. oranges.

The PSP redesign will probably be crucial to own for 333 mhz games now.

I' ve seen green 360s... they' re fugly. I want to see a redesign in Navy Blue. The drive is bunk on my PSP, so I may just hold off on the drive replacement & get one of these puppies.

The PSP redesign will probably be crucial to own for 333 mhz games now. I might be interested in a PSP remodelled, but not everyone with a PSP will be prepared to chuck it and buy a new one. What Sony needs is a new battery pack standard. A thrid party have one that doubles Sonys capacity without adding much bulk. On the subject of green. I prefer Black but black isn' t a colour. My favorite colour is green. Not that bright florescent green, I like the dark green. That green is nice, maybe a bit darker.

I prefer Black but black isn' t a colour. In pigments, such as paint, black is a color -- it' s the sum of all other colors. In light, black is the absence of all other colors. And vice versa for white -- in pigments, it' s the absence of other colors, and in light it' s the sum of all colors.

Odds on though Eddie is that they will do away with the UMD, what they will use in place is anyones guess, maybe mini blu ray.

We' re talking a redesign, not a PSP2. A Mini-Blu drive would be alienating all of their previoiusly hard-earned consumers. If solid-state memory makes an enormous jump in the next couple of years, or HDDs get really really small I' m expecting a revision including those, however it' s honestly not very likely.

What I want to see is a second thumbstick dammit. Now that might make me actually go buy one but I' m afraid with the re-release the price isn' t going to change and that will most definately suck. As it is now I think I might end up getting a lite if I get a handheld(which not happen anyway). Overall I think I' ll stick to console and PC.

They' re not going to throw on a thumbstick either. All the things we all hate about the PSP are going to remain securely intact. -Crappy ol' UMD is still going to be the media of choice for this and PSP2 -We' ll still be stuck without a 2nd thumbstick. -Weird Sony D-Pad However there are the inconveniences of the PSP that are most likely going to be rectified. -Better battery-life -Even brighter screen -A bit of onboard memory -Smaller component sizes -A better internal antenna (hopefully) -A more scratch-reisitant plastic for their faceplate I' ve decided that I' ll be getting one launch-week if I' ve got the money, as it was the console I played the most for the short time I had it.

you can bet on smaller size and a lighter colour, like white. Screen will stay the same and battery will be improved, psp games will more than likely be marketed with 333mh of psp power!, nothing added expect fast er umd drive [smaller, lighter] and internal memory to allow games faster loading. I am going to buy this one for sure.
