Who is to say we won' t have it in our lifetime? Back in 1960 bet people had the same thoughts about going to the moon or sending a probe to mars, that was only 47 years ago, not even a lifetime. What holds up exploration is money and a governments bottle to push technology to the limit, that' s what holds us up. As for life on other planets of course there is, have we been visited who knows, I would like to think that before I die there will have been a manned mission to Mars and possibly the other way to Saturn or Jupiter, although in the last 2 cases maybe just a trip and an orbit rather than a landing.

also I always thought calling our moon ' the moon' is a little silly, like calling a person ' Human' ....

The astronomical name of the moon is Luna. Edit: (Of course, that' s just Latin for " the moon." )

It' s a lot easier to transmit through space than it is to transmit in an atmosphere. I' ve looked at all of the " Moon landing hoax" info awhile back and basically it just proved even more that we did go.

also I always thought calling our moon ' the moon' is a little silly, like calling a person ' Human' .... Not at all, the Moon IS the name, the noun for a rock orbiting a planet is " satellite" . We only have one satellite which happens to be named the Moon. For this reason we have a habit of refering to other satellites in general as a Moon, which is a common error. Only our satellite is supposed to be " The Moon" .

It is the same as when you say " the president" . It is obvious when you are talking to people from the same country that you mean your president.
