360 Owners being fleeced - May 23, 2007 18:17
So according to those very important people at Reuters all 360 owners are being fleeced by Microsoft by microtransactions meaning games could cost up to $100 if you add up all the extra bits you can download. It seems to base most of the article on the disagreements between MS and Epic on the Gears maps.

But a question, are 360 people being taken for a ride on extra downloads?

Well, the new 3 maps cost 800 points, sure but it will be free in september, and the community already got 2 free maps and a game mode.

Its not like someone is forced or cheated, who here demanded 2 extra maps and another game mode anyway?

We got that for free, and the other maps are also coming for free in september, ppl can wait...

Even if you break 2 legs from a crab it still runs!
What you gotta do is find its weak spot and do massive damage at it.

They also use one line which quoted Rainbow 6 and said if you hadn' t paid extra for mp maps you couldn' t play on-line. That was complete rubbish.

If you want to download GHII packs then it is a cheek for 3 songs to cost what 500MP' s.

On the whole the Arcade games seem worth it, but not 100% sure on some of the content at the moment.

absolutely, as consumers we can vote with our wallets. Eventually MS and the various publishers will realize we are not going to pay for second rate additional stuff or pointless add-ons, but we are prepared to pay a reasonable sum for something decent.

and pissed off the whole gaming community?

The ms fanboy nr1 Majornelson.com' s majornelson wrote this " say what you want about that, but in my papers alot of you people bought it so dont complain" .

WTF?!

FU MAN.

Yes, I know about the horse armour, it was pointless and I didn' t buy it. Unfortunately we can' t account for idiots who will buy anything, but I think a lot of companies saw the flak that Bethesda took on that and may have adjusted their plans. Bethesda' s subsequent content was reasonable however so maybe they did learn something. We can but hope.

It depends how you look at it. Their not exactly forcing you to buy their stuff and you can still play your games without them, but then games such as Oblivion, I thought the new expansion looked fun.... until i saw the 2400 point price. Im sure its cheaper than the pc expansion, but a total of $90 for a game that im not that crazy about is ridiculous

Are Marketplace users being fleeced? Hell yeah we are. Microsoft is money grubbing again, & it ticks me off. I would buy every map pack for every game I own on the 360 if they were $5 per 3 instead of the ridiculous $10. I' m not paying $10 bucks for another 3 hours of happy game time.

[:' (]

There are some marketplace games worth $10, and others not, and they need to reflect that in their pricing. I mean, 10 bucks for solitaire? Kinda' like the FREE solitaire you get on every Microsoft OS? Yeah... that' s the one.

1600 points = $20
800 points = $10
800 x 3 = 2400
$10 x 3 = $30

$30 bucks for that? Ewwww.

I usually don' t buy anything through the marketplace. The only additional content of any kind I' ve paid for have been Halo 2 maps. (I can' t believe people actually spend money on " themes" and avatars for their gamer cards. Idiocy!) So anyway, in that sense I don' t feel like I' m being fleeced.

The only experience I' ve had where I' ve been like, " Sheeeee... you got me, Microsoft," was when I got the system and was surprised to find that it didn' t come with a rechargable battery for the wireless controller. F#&%ers. I don' t even care about wirelessness.

You say that you can vote with your wallet, yes you are right however, in some cases GHII for example you haven' t even got the same game as it is on the PS2 and the 360 is next gen that is what I find appalling about marketplace, and in some case you have to buy maps to play MP games.

Gonna say the samething as Tiz here, and even though I don' t like paying for stuff I think shoulld have been in the game or free

At the end of the day, no one is holding a gun to your head.

I apply this to all things that cost money, including the Ps3.

If I want it, it costs, I consider the price and how badly I want it.

So far I have not bought anything from the marketplace, and I haven' t been a goldmember on X-Box Live, since my free month ran out.

I downright refuse to buy anything that was taken off the disk or simply locked and themes and gamer pics.

Other no no' s are

Outfits, cars and little things like that.

Sadly the mobile generation are happy to keep downloading all this which means MS and other publishers are happy to keep doing it.

not only that, but they also had some cars that you could not select(such as the concept camaro) and you could only get it by paying for it which is extremely stupid since they put it on the car list to begin with. I think they did it because the concept camaro is supposed to be pretty popular and if people saw you could only get it by purchasing it they might buy it
