If you like Sonic I would say get Sonic and the secret rings. It' s a half come back.

If you like DBZ get Budokai 2

Pick up Zelda no matter what.

Might get Godfather as well. Although graphically not really superb it does use the wii-mote in some good ways.

Don' t know if you' re European or not. But if you want to play online with your Wii go get Mario Strikers in like 4 days.

RE: Metroid Prime 3!!!!!! - May 22, 2007 19:29
That would be for the US.
For Europe it would be

Mario Strikers 25 may

Metroid has been dated 27 september for Europe for a while now. Even before they put up a American release date.

Battalion Wars 2: 22 september

Mario Galaxy would be the 1st of june for Europe and no date there yet for the US.

Super Smash Bros. 30 september.

Well all of this is according to IGN if ou search the game and look in game details. Find it hard to believe that we would get most of the games earlier than the US. I' m used to having to wait like 6 months or a damn year to get things here in Europe so I find it rather untrust worthy.

I haven' t played Zelda in a while, I played it last night and the part I' m on is awesome, too bad the game is sooo slow to get good, it' s worse than wind waker in that regard.

If the Wii was only capable of 480i, it would have to be deinterlace it. - Emotep

The anti-aliasing is almost too good!

At least the game will be in true 16:9. Too bad Nintendo was too lazy to incorporate a 16:9 flag for their games so my TV would snap to that aspect automatically for appropriate games. Even the Xbox 1 did this (though only in 480i). It' s hard to tell which aspect games like Wario Ware or Marble Mania are supposed to be (hint: they' re both 4:3). Unfortunately there is no quality standard on the Wii like there is on the 360 (where every game must be at least 720p). Games can look as crappy as the developers want. And they often love their 480i 4:3.

That' s just because you have a gay TV.

And that Anti aliasing looks like... none, or 2x at the absolute best, but nah... it' s not sharp enough for 2x.

I' m fairly confident it will look good in motion, but I can' t tell what the hell I' m looking at in those screenshots.

The aliasing isn' t such a huge deal with SD TVs since they tend to have somewhat blurry displays anyway. Still, I' m not sure what the obsession is with eliminating so-called " jaggies," other than that many " hardcore gamers" are borderline malnourished and have varying degrees of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Explain. Your TV knows when Wii games are 16:9 and when they are 4:3? I bet you have to stretch and unstretch it yourself, unless you leave it stretched all the time, which of course would be mega gay.

Yeah... I play Wario Ware which is 4:3 and Zelda which is 16:9 without changing anything...

Malnourished? The fact is, I literally wouldn' t be able to tell the difference between this and one of the Metroid games for GameCube, regardless of AA (which is non existant in any case). This game is not a good showcase for Wii, I know the console is capable of more.

I don' t see how your TV would be the only model or brand in the world to recognize Wii 16:9, especially since real 16:9 flags are embedded into the video signal and can even be recorded to video tape and works just great on my TV. The thing is that the Wii does not use the 16:9 flag unless there is some hidden setting in the console I haven' t stumbled upon. I' d like to see a Youtube video of your TV switching on its own without powering off the Wii or pressing any buttons on any remote when switching games.

By the way, what make/model TV are you using?

Um.. 16:9 issue? I don' t get it?

When i first got my Wii with component. I simply turned on the machine, went to the options, switched it to 16:9, no problem or problems since...

Also, i would not judge Metroids visuals based on screenshot' s.. Silky-smooth 60fps is more important than over-pushed texture details, the art and level designers do thier job properly to keep the game looking atmospheric.

If the controls are all there, this game' s going to be a killer.

Yes, because we require FPS that are much higher than the human eye can detect.

Eh? you can' t see / feel the difference between 30fps and 60fps?

Go play SEGA Rally 2 on Dreamcast, if u cant see what let the game down, sort out your eyes!!!

The human eye can detect well over anything TVs or monitors can put out.

It' s not a problem, just an inconvenience since Nintendo doesn' t demand that manufacturers make all of their games in 480p 16:9. What happens when you play Wario Ware? Does it fill your screen 100% left to right? Also, 16:9 video flags can work over RF and composite. Component not needed.

The human eye begins to see stutterless motion at 24 FPS. There' s a huge difference when playing 30fps and 60. You don' t notice it at first, but it really makes a difference, especially online.

Actually it' s around 18fps. But I can still detect stutters on 30fs no problem. I like 24fps and 30fps video better than 60fps video (video as in real video, not games, etc), but I like 60fps videogames more than 30fps games.

I' m definitely not saying its not good to have 60fps, but its definitely not needed to make a great game. Nor should it be used as a selling point to make up for sub par graphics.

Talking about games at 60fps being super important makes you sound as stupid as some of Ken Kutaragi' s comments, and nobody wants that.

I remember reading somewhere that the human eye can discern up to about 80 or 90 fps in good lighting conditions (although there really isn' t a digital " framerate" or refresh rate for the eye as a whole, being an organic system, but this would be equivalent to 80-90 fps). Of course there are variations from person to person. For film and video, I kind of prefer the look of a slower frame rate as an aesthetic, stylistic touch, but I like my games very fast and silky smooth.

Yes. Old silent movies ran at 18fps. When they decided to add sound which used variable density optical track on the film, they had to speed it up to achieve acceptable quality. This is why when you look at silent movies they seem to be going really fast since they are being played on more modern projection/telecine equipment running at 24fps.

Yes, you just said what I was trying to say, only more gooder. :)

One thing that is interesting is the Jay Leno and/or Conan O' Brien clips that are downloadable for free on Xbox Live. Watch them in HD when they are broadcast, and then watch the XBL versions. The XBL clips run at 30fps instead of 60fps. Much jerkiness abounds, especially since the original shutter was set for 60fps so there is no motion blur for the 30fps versions.

Interesting links, Agent Ghost.

The USAF, in testing their pilots for visual response time, used a simple test to see if the pilots could distinguish small changes in light. In their experiment a picture of an aircraft was flashed on a screen in a dark room at 1/220th of a second. Pilots were consistently able to " see" the afterimage as well as identify the aircraft. This simple and specific situation not only proves the ability to percieve 1 image within 1/220 of a second, but the ability to interpret higher FPS.

A couple of things to note about this. First, flashing an image in an otherwise completely dark and featureless field of view is going to be much more visible and identifiable than if the image of the aircraft was embedded among 219 other images within a single second. So I think it is not entirely accurate to say that this proves the ability to perceive 1 image with 1/220 of a second, as this is one highly controlled situation which doesn' t have many corollaries in day-to-day life.

Secondly, people like fighter pilots, and athletes like boxers for example, almost certainly have much better-than-average eyesight. There' s a legend that the heavyweight champ Joe Louis could read the label of a 78 RPM record as it was playing.

I really, really prefer 60 FPS because I feel kinda sick when I watch 30 FPS. Like sea sickness or something. It' s not much but it' s not very fun to get that kinda feeling when you' re playing a game.

Nintendo Power gave Metroid Prime corruption a 10/10

Yeah I know it' s Nintendo Power but still. This is only the second time they have given a 10 to a game. The other one was RE4.

Twilight Princess didn' t get a 10 at all. Seems Retro really did a great job.
