Nintendo' s 06-07 financial report / Wii sales - Apr 26, 2007 18:31
I hate figure threads but i' ll get this in here before the fanboys do...

Nintendo have made available their fiscal report for last year, ...it can be viewed HERE

Since launch they' ve sold 5.84M Wii' s.

It' s impressive, but Gamecube sold 3.8M in the same timespan, without European figures, so if you include the European figures (1.5M) for the same time period then it works out at 5.3M.

The only difference is that by this time Gamecube was readily available and Wii isn' t, ...so we still can' t gauge just how successful the machine is.

The report also states that Nintendo expect to sell 14M before the next fiscal year ends (April 08)

It' s not bad by any means but it' s not as good as many have been making out and it means that Microsoft will likely stay the current market leader for this generation until at least early 08.

If they can reduce materials cost any further (not bothering painting the gamecubes before they' re repackaged.) I' d love to see a price drop come out of all of this.

Well we all know the DS prints money. It actually does ya know! You have to get a special DS cart off the stars catalogue but it costs something like 10 billion stars just like anything else decent on the stars catalogue! No wait! There rarely is anything decent on the Stars catalogue, only fucking ringtones and wallpapers.

It might be a while before we see a price drop. Not that it matters too much, I don' t have a problem the Wii' s price. It' s the games are too expensive. Maybe we' ll see the price of games drop once the Wii gets a larger userbase.
