Work Preferences... - Sep 09, 2004 14:56
If you had the choice of making changes to work-related aspects of your life, what would they be?

For me, I would either:

1) Work 2nd or 3rd shift at the company site, or
2) Work from home

I currently work days and it kinda bites (if you ask me), but there is no 2nd or 3rd shift where I work. The quiet of the office would actually allow me to get more done in less time.

Working from home would allow me to see my family more often, and I wouldn' t have to have a dress code...I could work in a house robe or jammies if I wanted to...

Working from home would be more challenging to me cause you if you' re like me, you have to fight the urge to not slack off, lol..

I' ve like 2nd shift and 3rd shift. I used to work the graveyard shift alot back in Florida, but I guess when it comes down to it I like 2nd shift or something that blends a little of both 2nd and 3rd shift. Something like 6 - 2 am.

working from home would be the best. spend time with the family, be drunk and yell at your boss (he cant hear you) or just wake up late and work nude (unless your doing what i listed first).

I like varying shifts. I like having at least one weekday free to get stuff done. Unfortunately my present situation is not like that now. I don' t know how anybody gets anything done working from 8-5. That' s when everything you need is open.

Well, I haven' t worked (outside the home) for 10 years. I' m a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom of three. I use to have an excellent job in the Marketing end of Group Insurance years ago. If I go back to work in the future, I' ll probably look for something more relaxed where I choose my own hours and preferrably work out of my own home -- that way I can avoid most of the bullshit office politics!

I' m currently out of work right now going through my first semester of college. The perfect job for me right now is just a part-time thing with maybe 15-20 hours a week and that' s a big maybe. Next year I think I' ll just apply for a ton of scholarships and live off of those the whole year.

First, working from home takes a certain someone with quite a bit of discipline, because there are too many distractions.

Second, working unspervised is basically the same. Eventually it all catches up with you.

I would love to have an 8-4 job that was close to home, and didnt require a shower when I was done. That would be great. Weekends off of course.

Oh yeah, i' d also like to find a job that isn' t going to give me cancer or mutant babies. (it follows along the lines of showering)

My latest idea involves winning the lottery, so I won' t have to work.

I will still find something to work at, I just won' t HAVE to do it for a living.

I used to work part time in a factory, after college. But 150 of us got made redundant a month or two back. I *could* go and work in a supermarket or somewhere like that but I' m holding out on a good job. Unfortunately none seem to exist. Just because I need money for rent and to live a deadline has been set for me to get a good job. Come October if I' m still unemployed I' ll just apply anywhere.

That sucks about losing the job. Best of luck with the job hunt. I am still taking applications for " personal assistant"
