What' s On Your Mind Today? - Sep 08, 2004 16:15
I have been thinking about which second-job I really want to take...each of the offers I have provide enough pay to cover my ' required' expenses, but it would be nice to have even more extra cash...

On one hand, I could take a job that I know would be more enjoyable, but with less pay. Or, I could take the job that pays more, but would be less enjoyable.

If I' m gonna work 2 jobs, I would at least like to enjoy some part of my day.

This is what' s on my mind...for today at least.

So, what' s on your mind today?

What' d you do in your job Joe?

I' m also thinking about getting a job. Went to a few ' Game' stores today, picke dup an application form in one and was asked to drop off a CV in a second one. A job in a game shop would be great though. I remember as a kid thinking people in those shops were useless... not knowing when a certain game I was dying for was coming out. At least I' d know and be able to help.

I' m also thinking about how much money I should take to the pub with me tonight...

Thinking about?
Lots of stuff I guess
1. Why am I in a crappy mood - reason = left home alone all day, no one to talk to so I keep quiet and when people come home I wish to keep quiet but instead get annoyed

2. What do I need to buy - garbage bags, school supplies.....

3. What to do after I graduate - I dont know

4. What time to go for supper - 6 but I have to walk so soon

Hmm that' s all for now
Also thought/worked on my music library and some games
I am beta testing a couple now but just on my PC, I don' t get paid

Beta test games in an office? So do you get many games to test? How long do you get each game? lol, it sounds exciting though I don' t know if it is in reality... having never beta tested a game before.

Oh, and because I know you are all wondering, I survived the pub spending only about a fiver on diet coke. I' m er... trying to watch my figure

This is a follow-up to my last post...

I decided to keep the more enjoyable job...the higher paying job, after personal considerations (time and $$ spent on gas), just wasn' t paying THAT much more.

Today, I' m thinking about how to re-work my budget to take care of all my bills, put away some money for Xmas and kid' s birthdays, still get a few XBOX games, and put money aside for personal property taxes (due Dec. 31st).

What a life...think my hair will be fully grey by year' s end...

whats on my mind is how usa has 200,000 pow' s. prisoners of the war on drugs. the fact that a 60 year old woman with glacomma (sp?) (who needs to use a vaporiser to ease her pain) gets caught and thrown in jail, as in amsterdam, you can have a bit of hash with your coffee while talking to a police officer (off duty). the fact that people get put into jail for a plant. sure one could argue that heroine and opium are made from plants, but thats my point. they need a man made process to become that way. man made beer, god made pot. who do you trust?

What' s on my mind today? Worries about the Official Xbox Magazines, $%#@$% damn things! After I purchased my Xbox, there was a postcard to request 1 free magazine. So, I sent that in, got a magazine ALONG WITH AN INVOICE!!. Surprisingly, I recieved another magazine. I' ve definitely been signed up WITHOUT my consent. So, I refused to pay to those (#*$&@#, and the " Final Notice" invoice came, threatening to cut my so-called " suscription" if they don' t recieve payment by September 23! PLEASE give me advice on what to do? Should I lag payment or pay? If I don' t pay, is there gonna be lawsuits? Sorry, I am not so much into law and business.

Hey, Joe, what' s it like to work at a videogame store?

When it' s slow, do you get to play games all you want?

I don' t work in a videogame store. I don' t think I could ever do that. Too much like working at McDonalds in that you have to deal with lots of customers and you work in a very small space. Let' s not forget that the wages suck and the experience isn' t good for much other than to show you can handle and keep a basic job, handle money, and deal with the public. The last two are things I never want to worry about in a job ever again, even thouugh I did them well for the short time that I did them (worked at a movie theater for a coupe years with the public before finally taking over the projection booth forever).

Beta test games in an office? So do you get many games to test? How long do you get each game? lol, it sounds exciting though I don' t know if it is in reality... having never beta tested a game before.

1. Yes.
2. Depends on what is available at the time and how many " projects" we have going. We are usually divided up into at least two or three teams. Right now I am on the biggest team.
3. Depends on the developer. Usually for AT LEAST a month, usually more. We have to test each revision of the game and make sure old bugs were fixed as well as check for new ones.

I' m wondering where all the September 11th stuff is at. Last year it was all over tv but this year it' s hardly even mentioned...I think that' s sad.

Today (09/13/04), I am worrying about money again...will there be enough to get to next payday...stuff like that.

As always, there WILL be enough, but I am a worry-wort.

My second job hasn' t notified me when I am to start, so I am on hold..and a little worried that they are taking too long to do the background check and to get back the drug test results.

When I called today, they didn' t know when they would call me in for orientation.

Oh well...maybe next week...

Let' s see...

The second job that I was supposed to get just went out the fu**ing window...it appears that the personnel manager quit.

Now, I have to wait another two to three weeks for Target to get their act straight... and they could not even tell me when I could actually start work, so I have to look elsewhere for a second job.

Life su**s!!!

Well, sometimes it does...today is one of those days.

That sucks DaRoosh65. But it' ll come good in the end. Game and Blockbusters in the UK are being a pain not getting back to me. Both places need people but haven' t sorted out interviews yet. I' m here waiting for the post to come through every day to hopefully find a letter from one of them. Tomorrow I' m off to go sort things out once and for all, I do reckon.

Today I went swimming trying to do some exercise to get in a better shape. Yesterday I even went to the gym for the first time in a month or two. I even resisted beer at the ' ol pup and stuck to a few glasses of diet coke. Go me!

Today was a better day...

I took a co-worker, that had open-heart surgery, to the doctor to get documentation for our boss. I like doing good deeds...

An application was placed at a hospital and at Valvoline. The Valvoline manager said that I should receive a call on Monday...that' s when the district manager will be back.

I am hopeful that I will be working by next week...maybe.

Read this!
Remember when I posted about my problem with the Official Xbox Magazine (OXM)? I got it fixed! I emailed them with a complaint and they replied. They have canceled my suscription and I don' t have to pay a dime...even though I recieved more than I was supposed to: TWO free magazines and TWO free cd demos! WHooh do I feel blessed!

Congratulations, Alley_Hater!!!

Good to see the little guy getting some respect.

As for how things are going for me today (09/18/04), my fiancee got three call backs to come in for interviews on Monday...this is good news, because if she works, then I only have to work one job!

I' m having a really good day today!

Well I can definately say that I am feeling better than my last post.
Today I am thinking about how I wish I wasn' t sick. I missed a good concert and a movie last night because of it.
On top of that I need to effectively divide my time between playing games and doing school work so I can get both done.
Finally, thinking about when I will be going to pick up Def Jam Fight for NY next week

Well, let' s see...

Today, my fiancee went for two interviews (one was rescheduled by the employer), and got a " We' ll call you back, if we are interested..." and the other called her back to say that she was not chosen, but that she is being considered for a lower-paying position.

That was shot all to he**!!!

I will be calling Valvoline tomorrow morning to see what' s going on with my application with them. Hopefully, they will want to interview soon.

My finances are dwindling, my future is bleek, and I should be down in the dumps. However, I am surprisingly upbeat...

Tomorrow is another day...another chance to get my life back into line.

Today, I finally got in contact with Target...they found my paperwork, drug test results, and background check results!!!

I start early next week...

Arrangements have been made to get my finances back on track. Eventually, I will be able to get some of those XBOX games that I had to pass up due to the lack of finances.

Yaaahoooooo!!!!!

My position is referred to as ' the back room' by managers.

Basically, I will be placing the stock that arrives and is unloaded in to it' s proper ' back room' or sales floor location. I will do this by using scanners to provide product and location information.

It' s definitely not brain surgery, that' s for sure! But, it is close to home, offers enough money to satisfactorily supplement my income, the hours are quite manageable, and I get the store discount (to apply to all those XBOX games I' ve been wanting).

And, with what I saw in the office areas, I should be able to move up the first time a position opens. They have bright, young, and eager kids performing the management and office functions - many people with less skills than I have!

I look to be a major asset to Target...and I am hoping that they will return the favor by promoting me.

Only time will tell...

Got a call today from a local hospital that I applied to almost 6 months ago. I have an interview in the morning.

If I get this job, I will be able to take care of my family' s need and wants AND still have enough money to get all those XBOX games I missed out on (like Fable and ESPN NBA 2005 to name just 2).

As for Target, I will be leaving them only if I get this job...the apy difference is just too much for me to say " no" to the hospital (if the job is offered).

We' ll see...
