What game from the past year were you let down by?

I am curious (bored too) as to what game had you guys excited about and then when it was released was a complete and utter let down.

to get you started Hour of Victory, sounded good with the different playable characters but was a let down

Clive Barker' s Jericho, Resistance: Fall of Man and Money Ball on Wii. The bonus games were rubbish.

All were playable, some very enjoyable, but compared with other games in their respective genres and series, they let me down.

Kane and Lynch, I was really looking forward to the heist style coop play, and it really did not deliver.

Lost Planet, the game play was great, but the story was rather weak.

Sonic the Hedgehog (Xbox 360/PStriple).. I actually enjoyed the game a lot more than most of the reviewers did, but there' s no denying that it had some flaws.

Terry Bogard - currently the most Unhelpful member of the Kikizo forums.

Assassins Creed - I had fun with it, and it did a great job of movement etc, but the lack of side missions, limited voice acting of civilians, mediocre combat, and repetitive gameplay really brought the game down.

Halo 3 - I' m not too dissapointed because I didn' t expect much, but as a multiplayer experience I was let down. The broken melee attacks annoyed me, and compared to the visceral action of CoD4 it felt very floaty and distant. I' ve never been a huge fan of constant grenade spam either. Co-op on XBL is still a lot of fun, and it' s pretty much what saved the game for me. Oh, and I hate the flood, annoying to fight, and just not an intimidating enemy at all, apparently they could be the end of civilization, but they look like deformed squids crossed with a rutabaga.

Lost Odyssey - Nothing huge, it just isn' t as fun as I' d hoped. I wish there was more involvement with your character when they level, instead of them just increasing in base stats at a set rate and occasionally learning new abilities. I also wish Cook and Mack would get duct tape over there mouths and shoved in a dark corner so I wouldn' t have to put up with them.

Assassins' Creed, such a great idea, but the execution just left me very disappointed. The most monotonous and death, free roaming world I have ever played.

I was disappointed that there were no more missions with Dante in DMC4. I didn' t make me enjoy the game less, but I did wish for more with him.

And I am currently playing Silent Hill 4 and is just not very gripping compared to the trilogy before it. Now, that may change as I move forward on it, but for now, it is a disappointment.

Two Worlds. What trash that turned out to be.

Kane & Lynch. Something dark and different totally raped and destroyed by various gameplay flaws.

It was Advent Rising. I was really psyched about it too, as the story was written by Orson Scott Card. The game play was standard and repetitive, but the story was pretty good. The main problem with it was that it would crash constantly and leave you with corrupted saved games.

I was kinda let down by Bioshock. The game' s not bad, but I overhyped it way too much (I' ll try not to make that mistake again after Brawl and Rock Band are released in the UK).

The only component of Bioshock I thought was overrated was the environmental interaction.

Smackdown vs Raw 2008.

I’m a big wrestling fan and usually enjoy the Smackdown games even if they aren’t a revolution every year. This year however was horrible. They’ve built upon the same basic engine for years now and gotten away with it but now they’ve taken a few steps backwards and made it unplayable. The AI is appalling, spamming the same moves over and over and you can’t even change who you’re looking at anymore, leaving it up to the computer to decide. Truly awful.

I expected much better gameplay. Not a crappy FPS that makes you RP. And by RP i mean the mundane task of looking for shitty enemies and defeating them to upgrade your character. And the controls are pathetic on PC.

It seems to me like it uses the same control scheme of any first person shooter released in the past 20 years.

I mean, you change directions around with your mouse like any other FPS, and you use basically the same keys you use for any other FPS.

devil may cry 4 and assassin creed. I find them boring.

I never played the demo for PGR4, I bought it right away. It is the best PGR yet IMO.

I' ve been thinking about getting PGR4. I' ve heard it' s excellent, and I' ve liked all the previous ones, although they have eliminated certain cool features that I' m not sure why they decided to. For example in the original Metropolis Street Racer, it would adjust time of day based on your Dreamcast' s internal clock.

PGR4 is cheap used now as well. I' ve been thinking of picking it up. It' s only $30 at all the Blockbusters in Calgary.

Yes, that was a great feature. Added really to the atmosphere.

Anyway, I think PGR4 is the second best PGR, only beaten by PGR2 and overall both games are very close. Really, it' s not as much an disappointment as PGR3 was. You can make nothing wrong if you pay 30$ to get PGR4.

I thought the same thing. It wasn' t even intended as a Silent Hill game from the start so maybe that' s the reason why. It was meant to be some spinoff but because the Silent Hill name sells Konami decided to turn it into a Silent Hill game anyway. To do that they had to cram the game they had into the regular story somehow. It' s kind of noticeable that certain parts are a bit " forced" .

I read that some people at Konami regret the fact (now afterwards) that they did release it as the fourth game in the series.

I agree and I can' t believe I forgot that game. They didn' t even try with Smackdown vs. RAW 2008. The game also has the MOST repetitive cutscenes I have ever seen in my life. And as mediocre as the Xbox 360 version was, the PSP version was just way more appalling, I couldn' t even complete some of the matches because it sucked so badly.
