What Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are doing wrong - Nov 01, 2005 15:43
I think Microsoft has too many peripherals or " necessary" addons for the 360. The decision to make the Core system and Premium system wasn' t really a good move if u ask me. It' s true that some ppl can' t afford the Premium, so they removed the HDD, the remote, the Live headset and ur left with nothing basically. U' d have to buy a memory slot to save ur games, 40 bucks. Here is where thy' re trying to make money and I don' t like it one bit.

Sony...well we don' t have much news about Sony besides the fact that they changed the controller. Maybe it' s better for ur hands, but I' m pretty sure even sony fans like the old controller shape, maybe they should' ve just " updated" that a bit. And they should' ve said that the game trailers were pre-rendered at E3. They should also try to release their ps3 a little earlier.

Nintendo is taking a risk with their controller and they should' ve had HD support, cuz maybe not now, but I think in 2 years a lot of gamers will have HDTVs, maybe more than 50% of gamers, and I' m sure they' d wanna see their games look amazingly good. One of the things they' re doing good is that Rev owners will be able to download full gamecube titles from their online service.

These r my opinions and I might be totally wrong on all of them so any feedbak relating to what I' ve just said is welcome and if u think differently convince me otherwise. Just don' t be rude about it If u think they r doing other things wrong, make sure to add.

What Sony is doing wrong is assuming that we all have gold coins stuffed up our ass' s and that come release day they can just pump our arms like a VLT and we' ll spit them out to pay for the system.

What Microsoft has done wrong is create the CORE system. I understand the reason behind it, and what they' re trying to do, but the confusion at the retail level, and the parity that it creates for developers with the HD issue just aren' t worth the trouble. I predict nearly all games using the HD, and people with the CORE system being left out.

What Nintendo has done wrong is potentially develope a great idea, but then expect everybody else to stand up and and instantly agree. They have forgotten what PR is it seems and don' t realize that no matter how great an idea is, if you don' t help people understand it, or realize it, it can become a paper weight. BETA anybody?

I am right and everybody else in this thread is either wrong, or simply misinformed, so you can pretty much go and lock this thread up Adam.

But i dont like what " Rikka" did, with her smiley, very offending, when a person try his best to make a discussion.
You should think about that rikka, let the tread die out by itself if its not intresting for you,but dont just write a smiley like that very bad mannor if you ask me.

Ahum...Back to topic.
As J.Allard himself admitted they thought about both sku having HDD but changed it last minute, which i think is a big misstake, and now when oblivion wont come at release date we wont have a rpg :S as promised in fact we dont have rpg genre untill 2006 sometime,if i get it right...they need to fix this big problem.

About sony, well their controller look horrible, but i need to try it out before i can really say it sucks as i it looks to me right now.
But i know sony and they will make me drown in great titles, and fix all genre for us gamers and thats nice, and mostly in rpg genre which i so much love.
To hard to talk about some misstake from them, seeing how they are far away from release and just used pre-rendred for countring xbox360,but then again mgs4 was real-time.

NR,what can i say?
Where was the 3rd parties developers or their comment about this controller?
They got the same problem, they put out their great games when developeres want their to be out,so the devel lose money, and its a very bad method, and i think Nintendo might be doomed >_>
Zelda and mario to GC was bad copies of n64,so they better shape up.
And i hope that NR Is capable of bringing great graphic...

I think something must have gotten lost in translation there QuezcatoL. I doubt very highly that was meant to be offensive, rather " hmmmmm, interesting" . My comment, now THAT was meant to be offensive.

This is what Sony is still doing wrong:

PS3 Can Do 120 Says Sony Boss Monday October 31, 2005

Description
Ken Kutaragi, President of Sony Computer Entertainment, has continued his run of controversial and truly odd Playstation 3 comments by claiming that Sony' s new console will run games at 120 frames per second.

Speaking at the Tokyo International Digital Conference, last week, Mr. Kutaragi admitted that no TV, however highly defined an image it provides, can refresh the screen 120 times per second but he insisted that this was part of Sony' s strategy of future-proofing its console.

120FPS eh? At what resolution? What are they playing? Asteroids, Pac Man? Pity the human eye can' t recognize any difference above 60FPS. How bout putting that extra power into detail, rather than speed.

Further demonstrations verged on the excessive as Mr. Kutaragi explained how Cell can deliver 25.6 teraflops of processor power by clustering a total of 128 Cell processors, each running at 2.5GHz

What has this got to do with the PS3? The PS3 doesn' t have 128 Cell processors in it. It has a single cut down version Cell Processor in it. Why did we need to know this fact? It' s like Microsoft saying they can replicate the Blue Gene if they hooked together 200 of their X360' s because they use PowerPC processors. They need to stop taking people for idiots.

Personally, I too think Microsoft have made a mistake with the Core and Premium versions splitting the market. Their reasoning behind it is sound but I have a feeling it will backfire on them. They should at least give the core version a wireless controller because right now it really is just an Xbox 1.5. Only the premium version can put justice to the name X360.

By getting crazy and creative with their controllers, Nintendo are in a way, backing themselves into almost a completely first party console. It probably would be quite difficult to port Rev games to other systems and vice versa. And that was one of the major problems with the Game Cube. It lacked 3rd party support. I' m quite sure the Revolution will have 3-4 good titles released a year that are just mind blowing...... but a handful of good games won' t be enough when the PS3/360 will have tons more. I' m thinking this will be a system that thrives on niche games like the DS. They just aren' t setting themselves up to get back in the game. It' s more like survival tactics.

Here is what is wrong about the big three:

Microsoft:
What the hell is this " Core System" ? Freakin' gay! C' mon Microsoft, did you take some Rick McCallum pills and become completely retarded or something? Now developers will be wary about implementing the hard drive and thus decreasing the awesomness of their games, none of which are yet even awesome. Another thing that sucks ass about the Xbox 360 is that there are NO GOOD GAMES AT ALL. Wake me when there are. Until then it is a piece of shit.

Sony:
What is up with the boomerang controller? The whole world knew the old PS2 controller sucked giant balls with excessive amounts of pubic hair, but this new design really takes the cake! And who the hell would WANT to set up two HDTVs side by side? That is gay, like Erik Estrada. Oh yeah... and there are NO GOOD GAMES AT ALL! I don' t care about crime games or sports games or games where the characters have lots of ' tude. Games like that suck, and so does the PS3.

Nintendo:
What the hell are they thinking by not supporting high definition? They purport to know what I want. Well if that is the case then they must know that I want to nuke Japan a 3rd time for reasons of stupidity. I look forward to the control scheme, but why stay buried in the past?! Even the Genesis supported HDTV. It said right on the console itself " High Definition Graphics" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!one!!!! God damn Nintendo. And stop whoring out Mario, the world is sick of him. Next time I have explosive diarrhea, I want Nintendo to lick my ass clean instead of using toilet paper. Maybe then they' ll learn!

ahahaha, LoL, u crack me up Joe.

Yeah, that' s what I was thinking too, about the core system. now developer r gonna make 360 games without utilizing the HDD, and if it' s there, they might make it so the game loads up faster. They' re gonna be forced to not make games at the full potential. 100 dollars for a 20gig HDD?

Yah and Sony needs to stop bullshitting and hyping up the damn cell processor...that' s just hardware, it doesn' t mean sh**...they need to show some in game footage, gameplay of any game. if they don' t have them yet, then stop talking about the damn Cell. I think they' re just trying to promote Cell more than the actual PS3, since they wanna include the cell processor in electronics, like PCs and other multimedia devices.

Nintendo has made a bold move with the controller I have to admit. I' m guessing it' s not gonna be that difficult to make a game for 360, ps3 and rev since Splinter Cell 4 is coming out for all 3 of them. Now maybe that' s possible cuz Ubisoft is a big company and has money and time to spend on the making of the game for the rev. and yes, they need to stop making mario, it' s old.

I really don' t think Nintendo have created a new ORIGINAL character in the last decade. They' ve just recycled the old ones to death. Smash Brothers Melee is a perfect example of this. Every second character is a copy of the first with slightly modified graphics. How about they put some of that " Revolution" into character design.

I' m not sure about this but didn' t Sony say that the boomerang controller was just a prototype they showed at E3 and that it would be changed before the actual release? I mean, it would make sence if that' s the deal here.
And has Nintendo really officially declared that they will not support HD? I thought they were still deciding on that...
But maybe we won' t use televisions for the Rev since Miyamoto recently said " I' ve always thought that games would eventually break free of the confines of a TV screen to fill an entire room. But I would rather not say anything more about that." But it' s more likely that he was high on something (I beg you for your forgiveness Miyamoto-san).
Making the core system is just a way to lure poor people in to buying the console so that' s a really bad decision. I think the 360 should have been compitable with regular HDDs, the same you use in PCs.
QuezcatoL, are you saying Windwaker and SM Sunshine were bad copies of the N64 games? I think the GC sequels were very, very different. Not as good as the older versions, but very different.

Joe Redifer! Don' t fucking say that you want to nuke Japan again! I know you weren' t serious and I know that people have to have the freedome to say what they feel, but what you said is intolerable! Do you know how many civilians died in those attacks? Do you know how much pain it has caused the children of the victims of those attacks? Do you know that after the war, innocent became sick from radiation? It' s like joking about the jews. " HAHAHA several million jews died in the concentration camps!" Do you think that' s fun? I don' t! And I don' t find such a comment suitable on a forum like this!

woow, hostility.

ginjirou, nintendo actually decided not to have HDTV support.

The controller for the ps3, ur right, it' s only a concept, but searching on the net I came across this:

http://www.joystiq.com/entry/1234000083060451/

Also, I just read an article saying that the ps3 won' t have full backwards compatibility. In another article I read that ps3 maybe be losing dev support in japan since development costs might be too high. Condemned was supposed to be a 360 and ps3 game, but they cancelled on the ps3 due to the ps3 being too advanced and complicated to develop for, which probabily is bull, but maybe making games for the ps3 really costs a lot. apparently sony hasn' t put out any playable demos, even at TGS2005 cuz they wanted to make a big impact on the japanese market, just like they made a big impact at E3. Could this mean that the games don' t actually look like that and that Sony is trying to hype up their games and graphics, so ppl won' t buy a 360, since it' s coming out earlier, and instead they' ll wait for a ps3. I hope the games look like they did on the trailers, cuz that' s what they r claiming, that the cell processor can do real-time calculations, meaning, there won' t be pre-recorded animations in the ps3 games. That would be awsome.

Sorry, I got carried away. ginjirou, don' t get so pissed off at joered, he' s just joking. maybe we should nuke south korea, what do u think, ur japanese right?

Oh and about ww2,gotta love those americans, who come in d-day 1944 when the war started 1939,when germany only had 6% left of their army and germany had to put in a lot of SS(small children)and one reason they actually decied to help out was because themself was attacked by japan basically, they did not want to be involed untill they got.
jesus thx a lot.
Usa didn' t care what happend over here under ww2,untill they understood germany hadn' t their famous luftwaffe and lost 70% of their army vs russia.
And i hate in all fps that you can play russia, for you people who dont know wtf they did, read a history book, but to make this short, they invaded other countries, and killed a lot of innocent people to expand their country.
And germany did what?
Yes russia was truly the bad guys, just cause you fought hitler in ww2 doesnt mean you was the good guys, what about invading finland? or attacking our swedish soliderr in finland?
FUck russia,fuck them.

Only country in ww2 i have respect for is England.
And they sure made a diffrence too, like wiping out germanys luftwaffe,so russia and usa did not have to think about that.

Lotta new territories being explored in Kikizo these days...

-Trolls
-Console Bashing
-Country Bashing
-Spam (altho still very low)

All we' re missing now is some racial slurs and porn advertisement.

Back on-topic

-Microsoft:
The Core/Premium choice.
Big push to be the first ones out (Maybe a tiny bit more time for developers and production of the console itself may ensure an even brighter future, nonetheless this still may work out nicly)
Altho the launch line-up has variety, it certainly isnt that great. Especially since now they lost the RPG (and probably only game I wanted launch day) Elder Scrolls:Oblivion

-Sony:
Over-hype galore
Due to its larger fan-base, fanboyism is becoming a religion
A tangible system would be nice. I wanna see proof of these amazing games and I wanna see them running on somthing close to an actual PS3. Only then will the hype complaint be thrown out. Seeing is believing right?

-Nintendo:
The concept is still questionable altho interesting
Like the PS3 lack of anything tangible
