VF5 - March 2007
-
Jul 05, 2006 08:03
Great news for Sega fans today, with Sega of America' s vice president of marketing, Scott Steinberg confirming that both next-gen Sonic and Full Auto 2: Battlelines are both on track for the November PS3 launch. Speaking to GameDailyBiz Steinberg also confirmed that the PS3-exclusive Virtua Fighter 5 will follow shortly after this in March 2007, with the Wii-Exclusive Sonic Wild Fire also ‘probably’ releasing the same month. You can see more on both of those titles at our dedicated VF5 page and dedicated Sonic Wild Fire page. There is continuing support for Xbox 360 from Sega with Steinberg mentioning both Chromehounds (releasing next week) and next gen Sonic, which is also being developed for PS3. Full Auto 2: Battlelines is still to be confirmed for 360 though. Steinberg added: " Top line, Sega is supporting all three platforms...we have lots of plans to be players on all three." ORIGINAL ARTICLE So VF5 won' t be released until next year and we already know Heavenly Sword will miss launch. Right now there' s zero reason for me to even consider buying a launch unit. I had thought VF5 would be available on day one, obviously i was wrong.

yeah , but they' ve said it (spring 2007) a long time ago when announcing that it' s exclusive. Another thing that' s quite interesting is that the reason for PS3 version is nVidia' s hardware - they didn' t seem to even consider a 360 version that Adam was talking about. That' s from a pretty fresh comment from Sega people (I' ll find it for you if you like, but I think most of you saw it on IGN or Eurogamer).

I seriously doubt that VF5 will come to Xbox 360 (Adam I' m SORRY!) I remember when VF4 was suppose to come to the DreamCast, Sega said that they would make one for the DC and one for PS2, in the end, they just released it on PS2 (more sensible decision). Whilst I don' t rule out a 360 ver, the PS3 one will be exclusive for ages, that IS until the 360 shows some pulling corporate muscle in Japan. I think Sega are waiting for the " guinea pig" projects.. (Lost Od, Blue Dragon etc) just to see if that accelerates 360 sales in Japan, if it does, expect an IMMEDIATE Sega announcement for VF5 on the 360. That is only if it does well in Japan, it can piss all over PS3 in America/ Europe, but if they don' t win the souls (Yes souls!) from Japan, I believe a 360 VF5 won' t be on the cards... Hey guys.... ...... ....... ........ ...... ......... .............. ..... .......... *Web BAHLL*

I think it' s fair to say at this point that after Sega' a comments on VF3 (nVidia and Playstation being the place for VF series) , that VF5 on 360 is not happening. I' m affraid that exactly the same can be said about " hope bringing" kikizo shenmue III story. It was nothing more than some hope thrown at people who were desperately seeking it. A shame...

Why did Gametrailers claim it was coming to 360 long before it was announced for ps3.

To the best of my knowlege, the gaming industry had lied to me more than Adam himself, so if he says its happening eventually, I' ve got a tendancy to believe him.

I' ve missed something here. VF5 for 360? If thats true then I' ve really no reason to get a PS3 until MGS4 comes out.

If Adam say' s it' s so, or at least say' s that his understanding is that Sega' s current plans for VF5 include a 360 version then i will take his word for it.
