Unbreakable was a great movie!

I just caught this on TV about a week ago and realized how good it is....the director (shyamalan) seems to really know what he' s doing, especialyl with his use of symbolism in his movies...Unbreakable had a great deal....anyone else dig this movie?

I wasn' t ahuge fan of Unbreakable, the director is fantastic, he does brilliant work. There were just parts of Unbreakable that just didn' t seem to fit right.

There were some pretty silly things about Signs, but its okay, it was pretty fun to watch anyway. I think Unbreakable is my fav tho....Shyamalan' s new flick, the village looks pretty sweet too...

I liked unbreakable too. It had some interesting ideas, and I thought the actors made it work. One thing I didn' t like about Signs was when I bought the dvd...I noticed little differences from the theatrical release and did not like the changes. Oh yes, and of course: the how in the world would they attempt an invasion without rubber suits question :)

Rubber suits question? I' m curious - what does everyone think the ultimate flaw in the signs was?

Well, after probing our planet for all these years( ) you would think it would dawn on them that it is mostly made of water since it kinda eats through them like acid. Coulda at least brang an umbrella guys.

He is a big fan of symbolism, and once you know what it is, your are like " that was so obvious" but it is usually so subtle, adn well done. It is not blatant symbolism (I don' t think I am making sense)

You mean how like the signs was less about an alien invasion but more about rediscovering or renewing your faith?

Yes, there were certainly strong religious undertones in the movie (especially if you wanted to see them) but it wasn' t preachy. But I was even thinking of the simplistic use of red in the Sixth Sense. I mean, i never really noted it through the movie, i mean I saw it, but I didn' t really take note of it. But when the movie was done, there was a featurette, adn he explained about the significance of the red. ANd i was like " of course, it is so obvious" Anyway, I am being redundant, i think and i am tired and should not post when i am sleepy.

i cannot remember all of it, but anything that had come in contact with a dead person was represented in red - red door knob, red blanket, red sweater. I know there was moer to it, aside from just giving hints to the viewers, but it was awhile ago that I saw this. I think a documentary on this movie or with the director about all of his movies would be amazing.

I still haven' t seen this one yet. It looked interesting when it came out, but never sparked enough interest for me to check it out. I hated signs....well not hated but it could have been MUCH better IMO

Unbreakable was good enough I suppose but the director' s unorginality detracts from it. Signs, unbreakable and sixth sense were so similar in structure that it takes away from his otherwise unique vision. Unless he makes some serious changes to the Woods I for one won' t be bothered with another one of his movies (thankfully though as far as I remember he didn' t write the script for this one). Another disappointing feature of his films is the character similarity, it' s like he has a pattern made out for his films and the forces a story into the structure. Willis shouldn' t have made both the sixth sense and unbreakable.
