I never really listened to System of a Down until recently. The only song I knew about was BYOB which was entirely overplayed. But I like a few of their songs.

SOAD was a solid band. I had the opportunity to go see them live a year or two ago, and wound up not going, because there were rumors that they' d be coming around again later that summer.

...and of course, they break up later that year.

If you liked their sound, look at Serj Tankian' s new stuff. It' s a little less complex lyrically, but at least the music itself is complex.

They' ve been on hiatus since 2006 (Ozzfest I think). Like I said, Serj is doing some new experimental stuff and it' s pretty cool. He was testing the water with his first album, and I think he had a hard time breaking out of the SOAD box, a lot of it was very similar, but he says he' s incorporating different influences into the next album, so I' m rather looking forward to it.
