Seriously though, if you actually manage to get one, watch your back because people are going to get killed trying to get a ps3. I remember when the 360 launched last year someone was robbed at knifepoint in the US for his 360.

THis is just pathetic really, it quite obvious now they are really scared of failing and just lying through there collective teeths to make everyone believe everything is better then it really is.

They were so arrogant and though that ' next generation' was already over before it even began (because of there commanding position the held with ps1 and ps2) and thought they could kill two birds with one stone - a new playstation (ps3) and a new media format (blu ray). Unfortunately they underestimated the abilities of both microsoft and Nintendo and are now paying the price for the over ambitious plans. Now the only bird they will be killing with that stone is sony itself.

Wow, so Sony managed to only get a paltry 280,000 - 300,000 units for launch overall? This suggests their manufacturing problems are much more severe than they initially made out. How much longer can they haemorrhage money without it permanently crippling them?

If you get a hold of one of these things e-bay it STAT.

1) If yields are this low chances of getting a lemon are extremely high.

2) Supply and demand-- you' re going to make a fortune, this is going to be much worse than the 360 launch.

3) You' ll make enough for a Wii60 with HD-DVD drive and some games. Even the most rabid SONY fanboy will take Twilight Princess, Gears, GRAW and Oblivion over Resistance and... uh Resistance.

4) You' ll have lots of games to keep you out of the pub and saving for the PS3' s first (and rather large I' d wager) price drop if you still just have to have it.

This isin' t the end of Sony but hopefully it' s the end of their arrogance.

Yeah I would try to sell it as well, the problem is that Ebay is going to try and stop PS3 sales.

Lets bear in mind that this is still only a guesstimate. They' re going off what retailers are telling them.

200,000-ish unit for the US launch will mean that an EU launch in March is virtually impossible unless we' re only talking 25,000-ish units per country with Germany, France and the UK recieving machines before the rest.

Ofcourse, they could still launch with 400,000. if they don' t then 360 and Wii will pull waaaay ahed in terms of marketshare and Sony could easily lose the US to Microsoft.

Can' t say I have any sympathy for those guys. What kind of an idiot quits their job and waits in line for 4 days (in the cold and rain) so they can play a console before anyone else? Virtual IS NOT > Reality.
