Does your PS3 automatically download new firmware when connected to a network, or does it give you the option to retain your current version?
It says there is new firmware available when you turn on your PS3, you don' t have to update until you select System Update, under options. But you must update before you start playing games online on PSN, or before you start using the PSN-store. :)

oh... changelog is back, with the release of 2.41 :)
MP3 Surround can only be played in Linear PCM. :-/

MP3 and Linear PCM are two different formats... unless you are saying it decodes to Linear PCM instead of bitstreaming it. That would be fine because how many receivers have MP3 surround built-in? None, I take it. Maybe something from Daewoo or Emerson.
