Sam and Max - Mar 02, 2007 18:30
I don' t remember anything about the old game, so I don' t know if anyone is interested, but I read in a swedish news paper that you can find some new Sam and Max adventures from Telltalegames. Any Sam and Max fans here who can tell me what it' s all about?
Apparently the first game from LucasArts was awesome and bizarre. Then they made a sequel that never got released. And now they' re doing something on the website below.

I' m in love with the first one, I bought both versions (floppy, and CD with talkies!). So Vx, you say the new one' s not your thing? Other than the voice acting that is, (I played it for 3 years W/0 any sound, some bad voice acting doesn' t bother me) anything else you don' t like about it? I' ve heard generally good things, but if there' s something about it really jarringly bad, I might wait till the DVD-R box set comes out.

I loved the original Sam and Max as well. I played almost all the Lucas Arts adventure games, like Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones, Grim Fandango etc.

I' ve really considered playing Sam and Max again, I was very young when I first played it, so I was thinking that now I might enjoy and appreciate it even more.

You' d prolly need SCUMMVM for the games now.

I just d/l Monkey Island 1 and 2 as well as SCUMMVM DS (SCUMMVM for the DS) and playing it on my DS Lite. With sounds and talkies too ^^

Currently d/l Sam & Max Hit the Road talkie version and Day of the Tentacle talkie version.

´how did you get that ScummVm thing for the DS? that sounds absolutely cool! If you get around to it, try finding The Dig, its not a comedy like the other titles but its still a great Lucas Arts adventure!

SCUMMVM is officially ported to alot of platforms. You can even get it on the PSP or your phone!

You have to use a third party flashcard like SuperCard or the R4 Revolution. Get the SCUMMVM DS with DLDI support (makes it more compatible) and just copy and paste it onto your SD. Put the game you want on the SD card and just play away!

The problem with SCUMMVM DS is that because the DS is not as powerful, it can' t handle games like The Dig, Full Throttle, or Curse of Monkey Island. About the most modern game it can (currently) run is Sam and Max Hit the Road. Although there' s talk of using RAM on Slot 2 carts like DS Linux but even then, I doubt the DS' ll have the power to run them.

PSP' s SCUMMVM can run them though. It just doesn' t have the DS' stylus point-and-click ability.

It also can run a couple of other games that used the SCUMM engine or whose creators provide the code as freeware; some like Broken Sword and Flight of the Amazon Queen.

Can I use SCUMMVM for the PSP if I have the latest firmware?

I really don' t know. I think as long as you can run homebrew in general, SCUMMVM would work. You' d have to check with the PSP SCUMMVM coders themselves.
