Nothing more than hearsay really. There' s quite a large chance that it' s bullshit just like half of the other rumours floating around. Although it wouldn' t suprise me if it were true. Downclocking slightly can reduce heat emissions by a fair amount. And 50mhz is very little in the grand scheme of things so performance would suffer only 1-5%.

This guy is as legit as they come believe me. He' s tight with tons of people in the industry including developers that have hands on with the equipment. Check out the extremely long cell cpu interview he did just recently (it was put up like today I think) This guy has some connections it may not be true when the ps3 is released, but its definitely as of this moment true.

Bullshit. If you don' t have an official source then don' t post anything. Linking to another forum where some guy is saying something and you happen to believe him won' t et you anywhere. It' s probaby worth noting that RSX is based on existing off the shelf architecture and the mid-range versions of those PC cards clock in at 560MHz while the higher-end models clock in at 625MHz. Could RSX be downgraded?! Sure, but it' s highly unlikely. If anything Sony would cap the clock rate and then uncap it further down the line once they have the heat issues sorted.
