Well we dont know what trouble it would have brought if they had succeeded back then, but it wasnt really realistic to expect to win a war so far from home. But a world without mad Arabs wouldnt be a bad thing!

Actually as you know the crusaders were just extremly unlucky.

Lionheart defeated Saladin in battle but didnt have enough trops to hold Jerusalem.

The thing was he pwned Saladin with 20k army.

And was a new king,while Barbarossa was on his way with 100k soldiers and the most famous warrior king in Europe,but died of a heartattack probably on the way.
And he represented Holy roman empire(Germany+Italy).

The Arabs were extremly lucky to have missed Barbarossa.

well you have to be extremely lucky to wage war half way across the world when it takes bloody months to walk there, the army is already tired and have forgotten why the signed up!

Wasn' t Lionheart a bastard who didn' t care about his homeland or his people and only cared about fighting wars? Pretty much like Bush does today?
Saladin seemed like decent guy, merciful and stuff.

Lionheart didnt care much about his country,however it was his mom who raised the money to bring him back and yes he basically never lived in England but France,but Lionheart was a fantastic warrior and a leader but a horrible king in that perspective.
He basically saved the crusade army and tried to make peace with Saladin but it didnt work out,instead Saladin attacked him but got defeated and fled.
The arabs under this period always fled,they also relied on archers.
