Yeah, it is odd to see one of those in working condition. My p.o.s. one only reads HDDVD's sometimes, but usually always DVDs.

I never understood that mindset. An HDDVD player isn't useless just because it's not compatible with Blu-Ray, and Blu-Ray won. In fact, it's probably more useful after it's lifespan than it ever was during. Movies are cheap and accessable.

Back when I first joined I remember he looked like a cute fairy, then he got fat. It seems he's finding the nice middle ground.

It went something like this:

2000 about 10st (63kg) (WAY too skinny)
2002 about 12st (76kg) (ideal)
2004 about 15st (95kg)
2007 about 17st (108kg) (monster)
2008 about 16st  (102kg)

Then from Jan to Apr I lost 3st in one go and currently I'm 13st (83kg) but I'd like to be 12 again maybe in time for E3 when I see many old friends, so expect that to be the news of the show this year or something.

Stone.  They measure weight based on how close it compares to a stone... or a rock.  It is a very inefficient way of measuring things.  If Adam weighs 12 stones, then those are some HUGE ASS rocks!  A stone weighs 14 pounds.  So he could gain or lose 13 or so pounds and still say he weighed the same amount in stones.  It is very deceptive and if I may say so, quite evil.

I could be wrong but I think a sane person even in Britain measure personal weight by kilos.  Adam is just a little fucked up I guess. 

We use both st and kg... just to keep things varied.  I tend to remember my own weight and height in imperial measurements (stone/ feet) but at work I need to know people's metric vitals since all formulas use european standards - kilos/metres.

Yes, in the US we use pounds. Why the hell we do is something I never have gotten a logical answer for, though.

And moreover, why is the abbreviation for pounds LBS?  I actually found the answer to that once, but it was so boring that I forgot it.

It's latin for Libra. The reason the US still uses retard measurements is pretty much BS. They say it's because then factories would have have to change all of their equipment and it would cost too much money etc. In reality it's because people are too lazy to change it, and also because people too retarded to understand are vocal about it.

In Canada we mostly use the metric system.  We use both lbs and kg though because there are 2.2 lbs per kg.  So lbs are more precise without going in decimals.  I weigh 195 lbs/85 kilos or almost 14 Stones.  With temperature we use celcius unless we're measuring body temperature measure.  Fucking Americans.

The biggest difference with Canada and the US is measuring car speed.  We use kms here, they use miles.
