You also have to remember, the PS3 is capable of running TWO freakin' screens! Almost forgot about that. That means you won' t even have to system link for 7 player split-screen in an FPS or racing game. Not bad.

It doesn' t exactly quite work like that. You would still have to link systems. The system is still not powerful enough to render two copies of the game for two different TV' s.

Well then the PS3 really IS crap! What the f*** is the point of being able to run two screen simoultaneously and having 7 controller " ports" if you can' t use it!

Ok Malkill, where' d you get this info? Not that I doubt what you' re saying. It' s just that I looked at those two features and presumed that you could, but I honestly don' t know for sure. Do you know something I don' t know? I mean, I know that the current consoles can render four different screens on one tv. Why shouldn' t the next gen consoles (which are, like, 50 billion times more powerful!) be able to do a 6 or 7 split?

For a little more clarity on the subject:

http://money.cnn.com/2005/05/16/technology/personaltech/e3_sony/

Due in spring 2006, the PlayStation 3 is powered by the " Cell" processor, which Sony boasts makes the machine 35 times more powerful than the PlayStation 2. It will support Blu-Ray storage devices, which hold significantly more data than today' s DVDs, as well as seven wireless controllers, and has outputs for two high-definition televisions (HDTVs).

The PS3' s ability to display data on two screens can be used for a multitude of purposes, said Sony. Players might be able to create a panoramic view by attaching two TVs, high definition or standard definition. Players might also be able to leave a visual chat window open with their online competitors as they play.

Speaking of video, Sony Computer Entertainment' s chief technical officer Masa Chatani was on hand to show off the PS3' s panoramic video functions. Since the console has two HD outputs, it is can be hooked up to two side-by-side HDTVs to projecting video in a 32:9 extra-widescreen format (think Cinemascope in your living room). Like a gigantic version of the Nintendo DS, the dual digital outputs also allow for an extended game display, with the action on one screen and either game information or video chat on the second.

With the two high-def outputs, the PlayStation 3 is able to display data on two screens. Sony says there are two uses for this. First, players can create a panoramic view, and secondly, players can keep a chat window open with their competitiors on one screen while playing on another.

Ok, I know what you all are thinking! " What do you think about this news Chee Saw?" Ok, ok. I' ll tell you.

Panoramic view: Good in theory, but is it practical? I mean, if you have two screens side by side while gaming, there are two screen bezels right in the middle of your view, right! Three screens would be cool (though a little crazy for the average gamer), but two doesn' t seem like such a good idea. Then again, we' ll see. Maybe once it lands I' ll think it' s the greatest thing since Cheez Whiz.

Having one screen for video chat: This is the Gayest idea, ever! Unless you game with hot chicks! Then you are god!

2 screens can be cool for certain things but ultra wide screen is definately not one. Not only do you need 2 HDTVs but they also have to be the exact same size in order for the thing to look decent.

Eh... if you have the money sure. Personally I got one of those RCA Xbox ready TVs for like $350 and it fakes HD. The resolution is absolutely incredible and it has awesome colors. Using an s-video cable makes it look even better. It may not be a flat screen so it takes up an ass load of room(seriously, it' s f-ing huge) but for the price and uality it can' t be beat.
