PS3 backwards compatability fears alleviated!!!

“The situation is changing every day, but on March 23, we expect the list to include over 1,000 PS2 titles.â€
LINK ...and as of 31st December exactly 2,451 PS2 games had been released in Europe. So as long as the newest games and biggest titles are compatible from the word go everybody should be happy.

But as we know from 360 BC, there is a difference between being playable and being enjoyable. There are still quite a few Xbox games that I would rather play on Xbox than 360, even though they are BC. Only when we have the system in our hands can the fear be alleviated.
Plus this is Sony talking, you know, the ones who are the fastest console manufacturers in history?

Yet they are still waiting until launch day to specify which titles will be BC. Why do you suppose that is? How many will be AAA titles? I am expecting to see a lot of equivalents to Xbox' s Barbie Horse Adventures and Ford Racing in that list.

Yeah, don' t get me wrong, I' m not just trying to pile onto the criticisms of Sony' s missteps. If they do come out with a fantastic BC list, that would be great because it would hopefully increase pressure for MS to step up the pace on their BC list.

Pardon me for asking but I' m an absolute retard when it comes to technology...
Are PS1 games supported too?
They only talk about PS2 games. I like some old PS1 games as well.

According to Sony all PSone games ill play perfectly.

As long as my Mary Kate & Ashley adventure games work I will be a happy camper. I got to have my own pony in one!

Yeah if all/most popular games are those included in the 1000 then that would be great. However, I cannot trust that that date would actually do that. Pple talk...an I am not easily impressed.
