PS2 Re-Re-Design!?
-
Jul 06, 2007 06:45
Most of the pages are in japanese. And while I speak a little, I can' t read for ****. It' s still very unconfirmed, but do a google search for SCPH-79000 (SCPH-79000 is the next logical step in PS2 version numbers by the way) I found tons of japanese sites, with the occasional bite of english (smaller size/weight/ac-adaptor), & one english forum claiming it was news. I don' t trust the english forum one bit, considering it happened to be VGcharts , but the buzz coming out of Japan is certainly interesting.

It' s like focusing your efforts on a project you' ve already finished and received top marks for.

They' re selling them in Japan next week. Sorry about the Engrish: <Modification point from SCPH-77000 series> Light weight conversion of substance (SCPH-77000 series: Approximately 900g ⇒ SCPH-79000 series: Approximately 600g) AC light weight conversion of adapter (SCPH-77000 series: Approximately 350g ⇒ SCPH-79000 series: Approximately 250g) So the PS2 slim weighs about 2 pounds, which is next to nothing. And the redesign weighs about 1.3 pounds for those of us who are too lazy to hop on the metric-train. The AC adaptor was about 3/4 of a pound, & it' s being reduced to about 1/2 a pound. At this rate they might as well release a bundle with a decent screen/battery pack for mobile gaming. I' d buy one in a heartbeat.

It' s like focusing your efforts on a project you' ve already finished and received top marks for. Kind of like George Lucas and Star Wars?

But the PS2' s revisions are for win and awesome. His were for the cash. well I wouldnt call it a re-redesign, its just an update to the slim line, ps2 went through about 5.
But they were roughly the same size & weight. They just improved the heating & the drive on the inside. I still say the most stable version is the SCPH5001, it' s the last " fat" model they made & it runs stone cold & whisper quiet. It will be interesting to see this one though.
