Most Anticipated Game Of 2007

Choose just one and explain why you chose that particular game. It has to be a game set to ship next year, but if it doesn' t have a target quarter yet then it has to be a game with a good chance of shipping in 2007. Games like Ninja Gaiden 2 for example almsot certainly won' t make 2007 and so can' t be counted, although i think it' s fair to count MGS4. I choose... HUXLEY Out of the masses of awesome looking games that will be released next year, Huxley, in my opinion holds the most promise. There are other more technically proficient and better looking [visually] games, but the premise behind Huxley kicks ass!

He said, choose JUST ONE game! He said explain why you chose that particular game! its not that hard to grasp! Anyway, after contemplating on my choise i choose Mass Effect. First of all i expect Bioware to make a perfect game again (yes Gangsta, i know your lurking and Bioware do make perfect games). The scale of the game seems to be massive indeed. The character models and facial animations are beyond amazing, and the squad based combat in the game, looks like a welcome addition to an RPG. I cant wait for my in depth knowledge of the " magic" and the backdrop!

Ok i am looking forward to Brawl because the aspect of online means i can take pwning worldwide. The other game which really stands out for me is Lost planet, this game took me by surprise as i didnt no much about it and i didnt think it was gonna be anything special. That was until i played it and realise that MECHS and Guns really do go together. HALO,MSG4 and ff12 are all obvious ones.........We know what to expect.

My choice? Supreme Commander Any RTS buff will know what I' m talking about. A spiritual successor to Total Annihilation (probably the greatest RTS ever - yes better than Starcraft), coming straight from the brilliant mind of Chris Taylor himself, this game is looking very nice. It' ll actually be an RTS that employs real strategy, rather than the resource wars of current RTS games. It looks to take everything about Total Annihilation that I liked and turn it into something even greater. On the console side of things I' m looking forward to Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon (considering it' s not going to be released in other territories until 2007). I' m eager to see how Itagaki fares with his latest offerings.

TA was a great game, but it did have flaws which makes it sit below WC3 and SC, which were more balanced IMO

ORIGINAL: Vx Chemical TA was a great game, but it did have flaws which makes it sit below WC3 and SC, which were more balanced IMO You' re entitled to your opinion, but IMO, WC3 and Starcraft were both positively archaic compared to TA (and it came out years before they did). - TA was the first fully 3D RTS with 3D terrain and 3D units.
- You could build hundreds of units. A typical skirmish often involved 200-500 units blasting the crap out of each other and the terrain.
- There were no limits to the amount of orders you could queue up
- The AI in the game was incredibly advanced for its time.
Actually I could go on and on but I just found a gamespy article that details exactly why this game is the greatest RTS of all time. It' s much more succinct than I could ever be. (TA came in at #1 on their top 10 RTS games of all time. SC was #2, WC3 was #4). http://archive.gamespy.com/top10/february04/rts/index11.shtml In any given Internet popularity contest, StarCraft would win hands down. But a full year before StarCraft, the first " modern" RTS was unleashed to the world, and it was years ahead of its time. The name of the game was Total Annihilation, and to this day no game has duplicated its contribution to the genre. Six years, and other games are still playing catch-up! Technology: Total Annihilation was the first true-3D real-time strategy game, with 3D terrain and 3D rendered units walking, flying, sailing, or even roaming underwater. Hundreds of units could be seen on the screen at once, a remarkable feat for its day. As computers grew faster, TA was able to scale with them, allowing players to crank up their resolution and crank up the unit limits with virtually no top end. Years after its release, the game was still cutting edge. Gameplay: TA took a " Magic: The Gathering" approach to units and gameplay balance, allowing for (literally) hundreds of units without throwing off the game. That is to say, each unit was balanced on its own: accuracy, speed, range, cost, armor, damage, time to build etc. were all factored in, so no one unit could dominate a strategy. As a result, players had dozens of tactics to choose from thanks to the unit mix. (Some might complain that TA had too many units, but this game was known for gratuitous excess.) Interface Innovation: While most games shackled players with unit limits and queue limits and a very basic AI, Total Annihilation was years ahead of its time. With just a few clicks you could start executing very complex strategies. You could queue up hundreds of units, order a constructor to build hundreds of different buildings, or order a factory to build planes that would automatically patrol a route as they rolled off the assembly line. In fact, those planes would automatically break off of a patrol to attack an enemy, then circle around to land at a repair station, then zip back into their patrol route -- automatically! The interface allowed gamers to build up obscene armies and bases with such ease that the player was free to concentrate on actual tactics and strategy. In the years since few games have even come close to this level of control. Leveraging the Internet: We call Total Annihilation the first " modern" RTS because it really took advantage of the online environment, way back in ' 97, to enhance the game. Each week, the developers released a new unit onto the Internet. That' s right! The game subtly changed, week to week, keeping the game completely fresh and opening up (or closing off) strategies all the time. The mapping and modification scene was also encouraged. Even today the massive TA community is still cranking out new units and total conversions. Pure Style: Total Annihilation is the perfect name for the game. It was TOTAL. Nothing about this game is half-ass: it' s like a videogame apocalypse. You don' t just order an attack -- you send in a WAVE of hundreds of units, a wall of steel death that will fill the screen with awesome-looking explosions for minutes on end. You can build a nuclear missile capable of destroying a screen full of units, but it' s worthless to build just one: Typically, you send them over in batches of a dozen or more. Obscene? YES. That' s Total Annihilation! Every game was non-stop action, carnage, and brutality at a level never seen before or since. If you look back and try to identify the key games that stood out the most in the ten-year history of the genre, it' s clear that for its time Total Annihilation was an incredible leap. Unfortunately, its contributions have rarely been duplicated. Perhaps its unfettered gameplay and incredible developer support were just too difficult for other developers to pull off.

I dont deny it was a great game, the balance just wasnt there, some things like the big bertha' s could lay a whole base to waste in a few seconds halfway through a map without the player really getting to stop the other player. But yeah techknowledgywise it was a great feat at its time, and yeah, i have been hoping for a TA2, but looks like Sucpreme commander will be worth a look!

...probably has to be MGS4: Guns of the Patriots.... ....the series has always been unbeatable in terms of story and scope... ...i also love the core of conspiracy theory truth that has played an ever increasingly larger role in it' s thesis... ...and of course the twists and turns that Kojima-san loves to throw gamers are likely to be at their best with this final instalment (as far as Kojima is concerned) in the series.... ...but Gaiden is right really about there being far too many awesome titles set for release next year... ..it isn' t really fair to only name one... ...games like Lost Planet, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Mass Effect are also at the top of my want list.... ...maybe people should name their most wanted title for each gaming platform?...

I have to say Assassin' s Creed; love the realistic combat, the excessively detailed anomations, crowd AI, and the Parcour gameplay style. Also, the premise (future world, etc...), especially the stuff that hasn' t been revealed yet, has got me really interested!

Majik got it right in the first post, the correct answer is Huxley! I' ve been preaching about this game for almost a year now. All you nay sayers will be put in your place once the game is released and you actually learn what its about. If this game delivers on its promisses, it will be regarded by FPS or MMO gamer as the greatest game of all time. People who know what this game is about are dying to play it or even see more news about it. Even thought it doesn' t come out untill well into ' 07 people have already created dedicated clans for this game back in ' 05. Im in one of them, we have over 300 members. Whenever something is pissing me off I just think about this game and my problems melt away.

I' m gonna split my choice between two titles because they are on two different platforms that provide two totally different experiences. Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii) - loved every make of this game from its first appearance on N64 and GC, and wait anxiously for the Wii version. Though not utilizing the motion sensing capabilities of the Wiimote, its lack of control depth is made up with non stop action, and with an ever increasing roster of fighters from many different games its definately something i am really, really looking forward to. Well to be honest i haven' t been that excited for games on the PC recently (already played and finished Company of Heros recently, it was great but short lived) but Unluckyone got me interested in Supreme Commander. I have heard of this game but do not know much about it, but from what Unluckyone was saying it might be what i have been waiting for, being a big RTS fan. Although not a big on Total Anhillation i did enjoy this game, though admitedly i did not play it alot, and if they can translate that extreme RTS action into this new game its definately something i will be seriously interested in. I might just reinstall TA and try out some multiplayer action over the LAN with my mates - BTW what is the maximum number of players in TA multiplayer? Is there AI enemies that can used in place of human opponents? Very interested to know these thanks.
