Not really.

Besides FF everyone just assumed sequels to PS1 RPGs, breath of fire, star ocean, suikoden, wild arms, grandia, tales, xenogears, dragon quest, etc. and PS3 will probably get sequels to all those series as well.

I loved how evil man forgot to mention lost odyssey. The one game that could actually be the next big rpg. The one game that every game critic has been amazed by, even the ones from famitsu magazine. Final Fantasy is amazing, but don' t forget lost odyssey is created by some of the FFVII and part of the FFXII team who decided to go with sakaguchi. If anything it' ll be on the same scale...but I reckon this game will be something specatcular!

I played a bit of 7 and a bit of 8, and for a game people would like to herald as the best ever i found it boring and stupid and years outdated comparing the game with western RPG' s in terms of gameplay. Hence its overrated, its not the best thing since chocolate.

Things might change with the gameplay system in XII though, i cant say untill iv tried it!

Evil man is actually right - even on PS3 all the other RPGs (Except FF13) will feel cheap.That' s what jRPG genre has become - a bunch of hopeless fuckin games.

You obviously have no idea about jRPGs (try Grandia' s battle system - I' m sure you' d like it)

OK for the record , when I say jRPGs I mean the old ones - this genre' s been pretty fuckin dead (I hate FFX, I love DQ8 but it' s oldschool) for years if you ask me.

The only reason people will buy a PS3 is because they expect sequels to all the popular jRPG' s, as well as some other japanese games, on the PS2 .
The developers and publishers know this so they' ll support the PS3 with tons of jRPG' s and that stuff. Their customerbase is where Sony is.
The 360, a great machine with lots of japanese support, has been bought by those who are more into western games and specifically FPS games.
I know some of you thinks I' m wrong, that the 360 will have more jRPG' s and great japanese titles than the PS3 BUT, ask any mainstream gamer out there or the huge mass of consumers who bought a PS2 what console they' ll be buying and they' ll probably answer " PS3" because they expect PS2 sequels on it.
And don' t forget that the PS3 will be much more popular than the 360 in Japan and even though the japanese market isn' t the most important anymore it is still very important and can' t be ignored. And the games that do have lots of sales in Japan are in fact the japanese big selling jRPGs. Japanese games, especially jRPGs belongs to Sony.

When it come to mainstream and not so hardcore gamers - it' s all about well known franchises that even mainstream gamers heard of.For Xbox it' s HALO and that' s it.

Fable,Forza - those names mean nothing comparing to Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy,Resident Evil,Zelda,Mario.

MS is mostly known for two things: Windows (and it' s not a positive feeling customers have), Xbox , Xbox Live and Halo.

Sure we know about more good things for 360 or previous Xbox , but we don' t matter - we are a minority.The fate of this industry is decided by people who don' t know shit about gaming and couldn' t care less
