It' s not a question of taste, I really enjoyed Halo 1. The problem is that things have moved on and Halo has stayed the same.

Not enough in the world of FPSs. I' d say HL2 does a much better job of telling a story than either Halo game and the locations are far more compelling. Not that I' m saying HL2 is new news, but it' s newer than Halo

Gears is a far better template for future FPS (kinda) shooters than Halo. The ability to use the environment as cover increases the depth of the game no end. Gears just needs to nail a better story for the single player game next time.

Let' s look at what made Halo so cool when it first came out:

Having a team back you up - no bid deal anymore
Being able to drive the vehicles - no big deal anymore
Decent enemy ai - no big deal anymore

As far as I can see Halo 3 will just be Halo with knobs on. I haven' t been following it too closely though so maybe someone can point me in the direction of info that suggests otherwise.

My main gripe with Sunshine was that it didn' t feel like the Mario ' World' (no pun intended) that you where in and the ' locals' where a bit crap.

That' s my biggest problem with the game too.

1) Please calm down on the language particularly in the Subject heading, jesus. This stuff shows around the entire website so try to not throw shit all over the lawn.

2) ALWAYS include link to source of anything you are discussing to begin with, it is not hard to do!

Halo multiplayer was so good it spawned professional console gaming.

Saying Miyamoto wouldn' t be able to make a FPS better than the overrated Halo is like saying that Yu Suzuki couldn' t make a game like Shenmue.

It is so easy to say I could have done this or I could have written that. The fact is he didn' t and given that it is obvious he has a penchant for " safe" games, I am for one glad he didn' t try and create a Halo series, the same way I am glad that Bungie don' t try and create a " Pet simulator."

there' s no need to be so volatile in a situation like this. tell you the truth, as fun as i found halo to be, the more i look back at playing it, the more a little of me wonders how it got so famous, seeing as i personally prefered something like deus ex: invisible war, or quake 4 . Personally, I think if Miyamoto wanted to make a shooter, he could make one just as fun as Halo, but it won' t be as good in graphics, and it would have less violence and darkness in the theme.

I wouldn' t say a 0.7% better score on gamerankings.com is an own.

The higher the scores are, the bigger the difference between scores.
Score of 1-5 basically means the same: the game is shit.
But the difference between 8 and 9 is huuuge.
So with such high scores as halo and Metroid Prime got, 0.7 means alot, especially since this is the average score by reviewers.
