Microsoft to buy Logitech???
-
Jan 11, 2008 09:37
The world’s largest software firm could become the world’s leading peripherals manufacturer if rumors linking Microsoft with a takeover of Logitech bear fruit. According to a Reuters report, rumors are circulating amongst traders that Microsoft may be about to launch a takeover bid for Logitech at 48 francs per share, representing a premium of 38 percent and valuing the company at 9.16 billion francs. The speculation has seen the Swiss company’s shares gain up to 12 percent Thursday. Logitech board member Daniel Borel, the group' s largest shareholder, sounded less than enthused about the prospect of selling his six percent stake. " I am a co-founder of Logitech. Would you be willing to sell your child? " I have no reason to sell. But I will not be the one to decide. I own only some 6 percent so I will neither enable nor prevent a sale of Logitech." LINK

I hate logitech. Every time I buy something made by logitech I find out that I have to buy something else to make it work/work efficiently.

logitech is the best peripheral company by far. They make the best mice, keyboards, remotes, and some of the best computer speakers. If they were bought by MS and changed in any way for the negative I would be very sad.

All they will do is hand of manufacturing of M$ own products, they won' t mess with it too much, maybe get them to create more 360 peripheral' s, but I doubt the quality would suffer, you don' t buy a company with a good reputation to turn it into a shit company do you?

Yeah, I wouldn' t anticipate too much restructuring on any level the consumers would notice. Maybe a MS logo on a few more peripherals. Microsoft is a lot of things, but stupid isn' t one of them. They' re just strengthening their hedgemony. That' s if the deal takes place. It' s not like logitech needs to sell.

That' s if the deal takes place. It' s not like logitech needs to sell. They don' t want to sell, the rumor is that MS will buy them out by purchasing enough stock.

Logitech > all Truth. Logitch makes great computer peripherals, but I usually dont buy 3rd party console accessories.
