Metal Slow X - Jul 15, 2003 19:16
Metal Slug X: The PAL Release. Quite simply one of the most anticipated... and delayed games of recent times for the PSone. It' s been put back until August now after originally due out 11th July. Why?

Recently with Virgin Interactive changing their name this most loved bite of 2D perfection has been left with no publisher whatsoever. It won' t be out next month, and to be honest probably won' t come out at all.

After it was originally susposed to come out way back in July 2002, I can' t believe that no one can spare the cash to release it. I' ve taken more than 5 pre-orders for it in the last six months, and people are still asking for it. Not bad for a PSone game supposedly too old-school for us Western gamers.

Maybe I should just buy MS3 for my Neo Geo Home Cart system. After all, it' s worth it.

Anyone else waiting for this awesome title?

Do you have $300 US to spare? Didn' t think so but that' s the cost of it, only 500 copies where ever made as well, so your better off using MAME for it unless the Psone version actually makes it to release eventually.

Actually I can afford it as I' m currently working, and availabilty doesn' t seem to be a problem. I' ve seen at least 4 copies in UK importers at around £240, or $300 in the last six months.

I know about the rarities being a huge Neo fan, but what' s really expensive is MSX or MS2 for Neo. £400 for MSX isn' t a price I' m willing to pay.

As for MAME... I' ve already got the original MS on that, but nothing beats using the actual Neo hardware itself.

NeoRage is far superior to MAME when it comes to emulating Neo Geo.

I also have NeoRage, the last version to be released. It' s not bad but recently I' ve found that Kawaks to be a little smoother and more stable, especially with newer games.

Still what about the MSX PSone release. Definitely worth publishing if you ask me. Even if it ain' t arcade perfect, it' s cheap.

Never heard of Kawaks - can you post a link?

Go to www.neogeoforlife.com and click on emulation. They' ve got the emulator complete for download. However you' ll have to modify roms made to work for NeoRage for use on Kawaks.

The process is simple, just a matter of copying one of the parts of the unzipped game and renaming it under a different name (I.E bin, etc)

It' s good if you can get it to work, as unlike Neo Rage the games don' t stutter after actively playing on them for more than 20 mins. I know it' s not my machine' s spec as that' s pretty high, so I assume it' s because of the emulation.

If you can' t wait then just get the Jap PSX version... it' s been out for years and it won' t have the 17.3% slowdown either!

Oh and if your really keen the Neo poket versions too:)

It' s out! Although it is slower than both the US and Jap versions and lacking the graphical detail of the Neo Geo original it' s still a great game that' s well worth £20.
