Lil Game selecting Help
-
May 24, 2004 04:44
Well since I won that forum contest for April, I' m trying to decide what game to get. I want an x-box game and so far here' s a list of more recent games that I can come up with: The Suffering Manhunt Driv3r Theif: Deadly Shadows Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomarow Tenchu: Retunr From Darkness Spider-Man 2 I guess my list depends more of when the games release.

Driv3r would be my first choice. It doesn' t come out until next month though so you' d have to wait it out.

Don' t take this as anything other than useless rambling on my part since we all have different gaming tastes. But If *I* had to choose from those games, hmmm, I' d remove Tenchu from that list based on the miserable demo I played and would probably end up having to choose between Driver and Manhunt. ;) Do you have Onimusha 3 for the PS2??? If not, that' s one game I' d Highly recommend get added to anyone' s PS2 list of definitive Rentals at least.

My quick opinions The Suffering Not a bad game but really it' s just a weekend rental. If you' re going to get a free game you should try and make it a triple A title. While the Suffering is good you' ll be done with it in a week and be left feeling that you wasted your poster of the month award. Manhunt Only watched my brother play/listened to customers at work, and the general opinion I hear on Manhunt is that it gets old fast. Even watching my bro play I can' t thinking, " Could this be any more repetitive?" A decent game but don' t expect deep rewarding gameplay and replay value. Driv3r Could be a great game, however, it' s not out yet and no one can say for sure if it' ll be worth the dough (although based off current pictures the answer appears to be YES!). Also, I don' t know if Adam allow prizes for games that haven' t come out yet. Theif: Deadly Shadows ::See Driv3r:: Again, could be a great title but no one is for sure at the moment. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomarow A great game. A little anti-climatic at the end but overall a deep and fufilling experience. If you loved the first Splinter Cell then this should be your choice IMO. Also, if you have Live there' s always online play. Tenchu: Return From Darkness THIS GAME IS BAD And I don' t mean ' slang bad' where bad is good -- no. It' s a terrible, below average, and an utterly lack luster title. Poor controls, worse graphics, horrible camera system, and outdated level design leaves much much much much to be desired. Steer clear. Thou hast been warned. The One, The Only One - The Lotus One

After beating the first level of Ninja Gaiden I couldn' t even play Tenchu that was on the same oxm demo disc. It just seemed so slow and boring afterwards...maybe I should have played it first...but everyone wanted that demo disc for only one game..so.. hehehe. I think Pandora Tomorrow is a good choice. Single player is solid , but I thought it was a bit better in the first one. The online portion is just awesome and unique, if you don' t buy this this is just something you gotta try with a rental. Also, I' m wary of Thief 3 after the butchering of Deus Ex, but maybe thats just my opinion

I haven' t played Tenchu: RfD, but I thoroughly enjoyed Tenchu: WoH on PS2. I haven' t beaten it yet, but the game is excellent, IMO (just like the previous Tenchus). It' s basically like SC: PT only with Ninjas; it' s not an action game like NG, and shouldn' t be approached as such. The graphics were never anything fantastic in the Tenchu series, nor did I need them to be. The deadly stealth kills ROCK. But of that list, my choice would definitely be SC: PT, especially if you played and liked the first one. It' s one of my favorites of this year so far, maybe my top favorite. Behind that would be NG and Champions of Norrath (soon to be FM 4, for sure!).

Driver 3 could be good, but no one knows yet. Splinter cell is probally the best choice, solid single and multi players.
