I'll wait until next week for the demo. I have Gears, I want to get as much time with that before L4D consumes my free time. Anyone think I have a chance to get the 100,000 thousand kill achievement in one week? Lets see I have about 500, only 99,500 left. Probably not... . I've decided to get both versions of L4D. It's just one of those games.

I would say that the only people who will get the Serious 2.0 achievement are the same ones who got the original Serious achievements(a.k.a. people with no life or other games excluding Gears). I figured that horde would make it easier to rack up kills, but after about 25 rounds of horde I only had about 200 kills. The easiest way to get it is probably on Act 2 where you can just gun people down with the turret.

Played the demo and quite enjoyed it...still a bit hesitant. I want this game but money is tighter with each passing day... I've already picked up 10 or so games in the past month or two... plus a new rockband guitar...i dunno why i picked up the guitar but owell its a done purchase. Anyways I wanna check out CoDWAW's zombie play to see if its at leats playable to maintain my thirst for zombie action til I can pick this game up.

There seem to be quite a few zombie survival coop games coming out recently, I wonder why now? With Gears and CoD they're just minigames though. The matchmaking system in Left4Dead has some tweaking needed. Its not as simple as you might expect to get into a game, sometimes getting booted out of a server for one reason or another. Its certainly not as smooth as Gears or Halo have done it. And the good old fashioned server browser wouldn't really work here either, since each game is always going to fill up quickly. I think the game would be more fun with friends and microphones. But my Steam friends list is nowhere near as busy as my LIVE friends list. I wonder how the 360 version's matchmaking will turn out.

I wonder what they're going to do to address griefers on Live.

I like World at War's griefer system. If you teamkill within a set timelimit of the beginning of the game, you're instantly kicked, and then if you reach a certain ratio, you get the boot as well. It's not perfect, but so long as you have a party leader/host kick button in the lobby, it'll keep people from screwing up multiple matches.

Valve has always had garbage matchmaking. Lack of party system is inexcusable now. I mean, Halo 2 showed how to properly do it in 04.

I played the PC demo. It's available to everyone now. It's fucking awesome. Normal is too easy though, I'll try advanced next. EDIT: I played the 360 version and decided it sucked. I don't want it anymore. It's like a low res PC version on medium setting and it still has low fps. Worst is the controls, they blow chunks (this is coming from a guy who prefers using a controller). Everyone kept shooting each other... The PC version is definitely the way to go. Twitch PC shooters do not translate well to consoles. Valve even crippled the zombies a bit in the console version and it's still frustrating, not difficult but irritating. Too bad I won't be playing with some of you guys, but the 360 version is just too shitty standing next to the PC version.

One annoying thing about the coop (and maybe its just because this is the demo and some people have played this half level more than a few times) is that theres always at least one person who just legs it from the start and then gets killed by a hunter or smoker miles away. But I guess it creates more of a challenge to go through with only 2 or 3 of you. When someone dies they actually respawn trapped in a room somewhere in the level until another player frees them, so you at least get a democratic choice to let them back into the game or not! Then theres always someone who refuses to get into the safe room at the end of a level and keeps everyone else from advancing to the next level. That would really spoil things if you were just wanting to get through the story. Theres no real way around this apart from the host kicking the player from the game... Griefing in other ways like shooting each other hasn't been too much of a problem so far. One thing is friendly fire does minimal damage - and you're more likely to run out of ammo first (and wheres the fun in that?) And you can smack people around with melee and not do any damage, which is fun to do once if someone just did something stupid like set off a car alarm. :P Although the only sure solution to griefing is just to play it with the AI, its never going to be as good as playing it through with others. Its not like Gears for example where the single player was designed to hold up on its own with coop as an additional bonus. L4D is designed around coop. My steamID is choupolo of course if anyone wants a game. I'm probably going to need to buy a microphone at some point.

I only played the demo on 360 so far. The controls aren't as refined as halo, cod, or gears. They could definitely be better, but they were okay. When I get this it will be on PC. I agree with the graphics not being too great on 360, it doesn't look too good, especially after just playing Gears 2. It was still a lot of fun but I think it is better on PC. There are so many great games out right now.

But I guess it creates more of a challenge to go through with only 2 or 3 of you. That hasn't happened to me yet. One thing I saw were people who had near full health raid a med kit when other people on the team were dying. There are areas where there are less than four kits, so that can be annoying. For the most part people are reasonable though. What I find more annoying are the molotov cocktails. People just throw them anywhere. The only time I came close to dying is when a teammate set me on fire. Save the molotovs for outside people, and throw the bastards far away.

Yea the molotovs are pretty volatile. They're great for fending off a horde, but if your aim is off they can end your game prematurely! I had a few good games on advanced just now. Expert got a little frustrating with the constant hordes and boomers puking on you - plus the tank and the witch are invincible! Then you get knocked over with the slightest thing. Advanced was a nice balance.

I believe it's: Agent_Hicks Who else is getting the PC version? Loco? Majik? Playing with choupolo, was fun until the weed started to kick in... Smoking weed while playing left 4 dead is not a good idea, this is what they call a "bad trip". I'm gonna go curl up in a fetal position now.

Tried it out and I dig it. The lulls are really tense... especially going through that huge basement area with all the concrete columns and not knowing if there are zombies behind each one. The only thing that kinda bugged me was that I got hit by boomers a couple of times without ever having seen where they were.

The boomers do catch you by surprise far too much, and you just go ah great I can't fucking see again. Its as bad as the flashbangs in Couterstrike Source. (what noone plays that anymore, oh...) 0.1% pre-loaded - awssum. I love zombies.
